now the question is WTF are we going to do about the bench?

we've got our #57 (which is a 10-90 chance of being a playable guy next year)
we've got the MLE/LLE....

and that's it!!!!

Amare
Kurt
Marion/JJax
JJ
Nash/Barbs

if Voskuhl and McCarty pick up their options we are no better....they are just filler. we must be banking on Payton and Fins......cuzz their is no other explaination.

LLE for Payton
Vet Min for Fins
Split the MLE on a C and PF? not to probable
Barbs+$57 for someones first?

Sarver must have no fear about spending money, because we are going to be spending as much as we possibly can this offseason.

before penciling this in as one of the strangest moves in PHX history, I'll give BC the benefit of the doubt and hope there's more to this.

On face value, this one isn't looking very good, hindsight may show something different, but right now...

Here's the scoop:

The Suns picked University of Washington guard Nate Robinson with the 21st overall pick of tonight's NBA draft but he will be traded to New York to complete the trade that has Quentin Richardson going to the Knicks for veteran power forward Kurt Thomas.

Phoenix and New York agreed last week to the deal but it was hung up when New York wanted to obtain insurance on Richardson's contact, which has five years remaining, because of a past back problem. The deal was slipping away Monday.

The deal would not be announced until the second round because it may involve Phoenix getting New York's second-round pick at No. 54.

The Suns did have strong interest in Louiville guard Francisco Garcia and Croatian point guard Roko Ukic, both of whom were still on the board at No. 21.

Well, Chris Taft is still available. He'd be a nice pickup at 30, or even with an early second-rounder. There looks to be a ton of projected first round guys available in the second round . . .

The only encouragement is that after the pick Coach D'Antoni warned the crowd that they had a LOT going on tonight. Hopefully much more than just giving away our first round pick and completing a trade that everyone already knew about!

Charlotte's #13 pick was the Cleveland pick from the McDyess trade.

New York's #30 this year was ours.

Crossing my fingers...

But what resources do they have to make deals with? Right now, it looks as if the Suns have:

Barbosa
#54 and #57 (#54 from NY)
The MLE and the LLE

He's probably talking about the two 2nd round picks :(

Ronny Turiaf
Salim Stoudamire
Aaron Miles

And probably several undrafted FAs who end up decent players this draft.

Let's not freak out. Chances are the #21 will be crap anyways.

Let's not forget that draft picks don't pan out too often.

The key this year is the waiver players. That is where the teams that are in contention will get better.

but on ESPN, they were giving Robinson some major props. i was suprised to see him drafted this early, but they werent one bit. he's going to be a GREAT PG IMO.....maybe not star starter calibur, but definately a legit backup.

There goes Ukic and Taft. That seems like incredible fortune for Toronto and Golden State to get them in the second round. My hopes of getting some guys that we wanted anyway are fading very fast, and my interest in this draft has dropped to the level of last years. They had better really impress in FA, because the draft for the Phoenix Suns has become a real downer. Have they forgotten how we got Marion and Amare...here's a hint...it wasn't through FA.

Well, that was exciting for about 30 seconds then they announced the pick was made for the Knicks... I really wanted us to get Nate.
