HIGH POINT – Wesleyan Christian beat crosstown rival High Point Christian 3-0 in PTAC girls soccer Friday at Wesleyan's Sanford Field.

Kyla Denton scored twice for the Trojans, while Cait Borden scored once.

Wesleyan improved to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference, while the Cougars – who were highlighted by Kayden Walker in goal – dipped to 2-7 and 1-4.

BISHOP McGUINNESS, THE BURLINGTON SCHOOL

BURLINGTON – Bishop McGuinness beat host The Burlington School 8-3 in nonconference girls soccer Friday. The Villains improved to 5-1-1 overall.

EAST DAVIDSON, REIDSVILLE

REIDSVILLE – East Davidson won 5-0 against Reidsville in nonconference girls soccer Friday at Reidsville. The Golden Eagles improved to 6-3 overall.

BASEBALL

LEDFORD, HIGH POINT CENTRAL

HIGH POINT – Ledford won 15-0 against High Point Central in PAC Seven 4A/5A baseball Friday at Central's Harper Field.

The Panthers improved to 6-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference, while the Bison fell to 1-10 and 0-5.

SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, PAGE

GREENSBORO – Southwest Guilford edged Page 7-6 in Metro 6A/7A Conference baseball Friday at Page. The Cowboys improved to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN, WAKE CHRISTIAN

HIGH POINT – High Point Christian won 10-8 against Wake Christian in nonconference baseball Saturday at Oak View Baptist Church. The Cougars improved to 9-3 overall.

BISHOP McGUINNESS, SOUTH DAVIDSON

KERNERSVILLE – Bishop McGuinness won 10-3 against South Davidson in Greater Triad 1A/2A Conference baseball Friday at Bishop. The Villains improved to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

OAK GROVE, ATKINS

WINSTON-SALEM – Oak Grove won 17-0 against Atkins in Piedmont Triad 5A/6A Conference baseball Friday at Atkins. The Grizzlies improved to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in the conference.

SOUTHERN GUILFORD, EASTERN GUILFORD

SUMNER – Southern Guilford won 11-3 against Eastern Guilford in TAAC Six 5A/6A baseball Friday at Southern. The Storm improved to 6-6 overall and 4-0 in the conference.

EAST DAVIDSON, WHEATMORE

TRINITY – East Davidson won 12-1 against Wheatmore in Central Carolina 3A Conference baseball Friday at Wheatmore. The Golden Eagles improved to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while the Warriors dipped to 2-9 and 1-3.

TRINITY – Trinity shut out Providence Grove 5-0 in Central Carolina 3A Conference baseball Friday at Trinity. The Bulldogs improved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference.

SOFTBALL

SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, GRIMSLEY

GREENSBORO – Southwest Guilford rolled to a 27-11 win over Grimsley in Metro 6A/7A Conference softball Friday at Grimsley. The Cowgirls improved to 7-5 overall and 6-1 in the league.

HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN, MOUNT PLEASANT

MOUNT PLEASANT – High Point Christian topped Mount Pleasant 6-1 in nonconference softball Friday at Mount Pleasant. The Cougars improved to 8-1 overall.

WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN, FORSYTH COUNTRY DAY

HIGH POINT – Wesleyan Christian won 11-0 against Forsyth Country Day in PTAC softball Friday at Wesleyan's Sandy Ridge field. The Trojans improved to 3-6 overall.

EAST DAVIDSON, THOMASVILLE

THOMASVILLE – East Davidson won 18-0 against host Thomasville in Central Carolina 3A Conference softball Friday. The Golden Eagles improved to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference, while the Bulldogs dropped to 1-11 and 0-4.

KERNERSVILLE – Oak Grove won 17-6 against Glenn in Piedmont Triad 5A/6A Conference softball Friday at Glenn. The Grizzlies improved to 7-5 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

BISHOP McGUINNESS, WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN

KERNERSVILLE – Bishop McGuinness beat Wesleyan Christian 6-2 in nonconference boys tennis Friday at Civitan Park. The Villains improved to 5-4 while the Trojans dipped to 3-4.

BISHOP McGUINNESS, ATKINS

WINSTON-SALEM – Bishop McGuinness defeated Atkins 17-6 in Conference 13 girls lacrosse Friday at Atkins. The Villains improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference. In the boys match, Bishop won 9-6 to improve to 6-3 and 3-1.

AT CUMMINGS INVITATIONAL

BURLINGTON – T.W. Andrews posted three top-three finishes in the Cummings Invitational track meet Saturday at Burlington Cummings.

Valerie Gainey (third – girls 200, 25.17) and Christian Fulton (third – boys 400, 51.23) and the boys 4x200 (second – 1:31.70) placed for the Red Raiders.
