TRIAD – Nearly a dozen area players and coaches have earned all-region honors from the NC Basketball Coaches Association – including one player of the year and one coach of the Year.
Highlighting the awards were Oak Grove's Toot Clay, who was selected the District 8 boys player of the year, and TW Andrews coach John Shearin, who was named the District 7 girls coach of the year.

BASEBALL

RANDLEMAN – TW Andrews lost 15-0 and 19-0 against Randleman in PAC Seven 4A/5A baseball Tuesday at Randleman. The Red Raiders moved to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
HIGH POINT CENTRAL, MONTGOMERY CENTRAL
HIGH POINT – High Point Central lost 22-0 against Montgomery Central in PAC Seven 4A/5A baseball Tuesday at Central.
Zachariah Jernigan had a hit for the Bison (0-4 overall, 0-1 conference). Cayden Jones and Felix Elrod each struck out three on the mound.
HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN, AMBASSADOR CHRISTIAN
HIGH POINT – High Point Christian won 18-4 against Ambassador Christian in nonconference baseball Tuesday at Oak View Baptist Church.
Aiden Kirkland went 3 for 4 with a two-run home run for the Cougars (5-1). Brenner Russell doubled twice and drove in three, while Caleb Merritt and Caleb Swaim each added two hits.
WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN, GREENSBORO DAY/CHARLOTTE LATIN
HIGH POINT – High Point Christian beat Greensboro Day 14-0 and Charlotte Latin 6-2 in a baseball doubleheader Tuesday at Wesleyan's Alumni Field.
Elijah Martin had four hits and four RBIs against the Bengals. Mikey Papciak added two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, while Jesse Covington had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.
Martin got the pitching win, striking out seven in three innings.
Noah Clark doubled and drove in two against the Hawks. Blake Goff added a hit and an RBI, while Cole Bowman also drove in a run. Jack Jordan, Cole Cavanaugh and Martin each had a hit.
Papciak earned the pitching win, striking out five in 4 2/3 innings.
The Trojans improved to 5-0 overall and, with the win over GDS, 2-0 in the conference.
WESTCHESTER COUNTRY DAY, BURLINGTON CHRISTIAN
HIGH POINT – Westchester Country Day topped Burlington Christian 9-8 in nonconference baseball Tuesday at Westchester.
Ashton Pittman had three hits, including a double, and five RBIs for the Wildcats (). Ricky Velez, who doubled, and Kaline Burr-Ellis, who tripled, each added two hits. Tyler Mangus had a hit and two RBIs.
Pittman earned the pitching win, striking out two in two innings. Crawford Elrod struck out 10 in five innings.
EAST DAVIDSON, SOUTH STANLY
NORWOOD – East Davidson outlasted South Stanly 11-10 in eight innings Tuesday in nonconference baseball at South Stanly. The Golden Eagles improved to 2-3.
THOMASVILLE, LEXINGTON
LEXINGTON – Thomasville rolled to a 12-0 win in five innings Tuesday against host Lexington in nonconference baseball.
Mykel Duncan had two hits and an RBI for the Bulldogs (2-3). Landon Stanley also had two hits, while Travail Barnes tripled and drove in a run. Bryan Serrano-Rodriguez and Brian Bejarano each had an RBI.
Serrano-Rodriguez got the complete-game pitching win, striking out 11 while allowing no hits and two walks.
SOFTBALL
TW ANDREWS, RANDLEMAN
RANDLEMAN – TW Andrews lost 15-0 and 16-0 against Randleman in PAC Seven 4A/5A softball Tuesday at Randleman. The Lady Raiders opened their season 0-2 both overall and in the league.
SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, WESTERN GUILFORD
GREENSBORO – Southwest Guilford won 22-0 in three innings against Western Guilford in Metro 6A/7A Conference softball Tuesday at Western.
Madison Newell had three hits, including two doubles, for the Cowgirls (3-2 overll, 3-0 conference). Aniya Harris also had three hits, including a triple and a home run, and an RBI, while Michalea Worthington and Kaylee Patel, who doubled, and had a hit and two RBIs.
Harris struck out five in three innings to earn the pitching win.
HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN, CHARLOTTE LATIN
CHARLOTTE – High Point Christian rolled past host Charlotte Latin 13-2 in five innings Tuesday in nonconference softball.
Kerri Langfitt, who homered, and Blakely Bowman, who doubled, each had two hits and three RBIs for the Cougars (3-0). Landyn Smith had three hits and two RBIs, while Hailey Allred had three hits and Madison Benson had two hits, including a double, and an RBI.
Paisley Dixon earned the pitching win, striking out five in three innings, before Bella Dill pitched two innings, allowing just one hit and no walks.
WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN, CHARLOTTE COUNTRY DAY

MIDWAY – Oak Grove beat North Stanly 11-5 in nonconference softball Tuesday at Oak Grove.
Ellie Potter went 4 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs for the Grizzlies (3-3. Bailey Barnett added three hits, including a double, while Harper Sugg had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs.
Tidah Soom, who doubled, and Nicole Hamm each chipped in two hits and an RBI. Kate Bertschi earned the pitching win, striking out three while walking none in 4 2/3 innings. Hanauer Fulk added a strikeout in 2 1/3 innings.

GREENSBORO – Ragsdale crushed Page 16-5 in Metro 6A/7A Conference softball Tuesday at Page.
Gracie Jet Cuthrell had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs for the Tigers (5-0). Ellie Cuthrell doubled and drove in three, while Genesis Edwards had a hit and an RBI.
Gracie Jet Cuthrell got the pitching win, striking out eight in six innings.

RALEIGH – High Point Christian lost 5-0 against Wake Christian in nonconference girls soccer Tuesday at Wake Christian.
Sophie Harris made 16 saves in goal for the Cougars (1-3).

HIGH POINT – Wesleyan Christian lost 1-0 against Greensboro Day in PTAC girls soccer Tuesday at Sanford Field.
Sara Kate Carr made six saves in goal for the Trojans (2-4).
BISHOP McGUINNESS, OAK GROVE
MIDWAY – Bishop McGuinness and Oak Grove tied 3-3 in nonconference girls soccer Tuesday at Oak Grove.
Kristen Dixon Velez scored twice off assists from Laney Heafner for the Villains (1-1-1). MacKenna Langdon, who made six saves, and Heather Hamilton, who made two saves, split time in goal.
Victoria Lockamy – who broke the school record for goals – had two goals and an assist for the Grizzlies (1-0-2). Piper Aldridge added a goal. Carmen DiFoggio made 12 saves in goal.
LEDFORD, ASHEBORO
ASHEBORO – Ledford tied Asheboro 2-2 in nonconference girls soccer Tuesday at Asheboro.
Gracie Johnson and Maggie Eccard each scored a goal for the Panthers (1-1-1). Carmen Hughes added an assist. Qolbe Olson made nine saves in goal.
THOMASVILLE, LEXINGTON
LEXINGTON – Thomasville won 5-2 against Lexington in nonconference girls soccer Tuesday at Lexington. The Bulldogs improved to 2-2.
TRINITY, EASTERN GUILFORD
TRINITY – Trinity edged Eastern Guilford 1-0 in nonconference girls soccer Tuesday at Trinity.
Madison Hill scored off an assist from Makensie Case for the Bulldogs (3-0-1).
LACROSSE
SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, GRIMSLEY
HIGH POINT – Southwest Guilford lost 13-2 against Grimsley in Metro 6A/7A Conference boys lacrosse Tuesday at Southwest. The Cowboys dipped to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
In the girls game, Southwest won 7-2 to improve to 2-1 and 2-0. Rylee Wexler had three goals and two assists, while Abby Foster had two goals and Jennifer Carrion and Kaitlyn Wildman each had a goal. Conleigh Hilemn had an assist.
BISHOP McGUINNESS GIRLS, SEAFORTH
KERNERSVILLE – Bishop McGuinness topped Seaforth 14-7 in nonconference girls lacrosse Tuesday at Bishop.
MK Suire had six goals and an assist for the Villains (4-0), while Morgan Aho had two goals and two assists. Ellie Brown also had two goals and an assist, and Emery Grunwald had a goal and two assists.
Grace Gerber chipped in two goals, while Stella Ropko had a goal and an assist. Maddie Edwards made 10 saves in goal.
BOYS TENNIS
BISHOP McGUINNESS, HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN
KERNERSVILLE – Bishop McGuinness beat High Point Christian 7-2 in nonconference boys tennis Tuesday at Civitan Park.
Luke Ansari (6-0, 6-0), Luke Holton (6-1, 6-2), Jake Winters (4-6, 6-1, 10-3), Devon Stalek (6-3, 6-4) and Everett Smith (6-0, 6-3) won in singles for the Villains. Ansari/Holton (8-1) and Diego Mendoza/Jake Hauser (8-3) won in doubles.
Graham Cochrane (6-3, 6-3) won in singles while Gideon Lian/Eli Carlson (8-6) won in doubles for the Cougars.
Bishop improved to 3-1 while HPCA dipped to 0-2.
WESTCHESTER COUNTRY DAY, BURLINGTON CHRISTIAN
HIGH POINT – Westchester Country Day edged Burlington Christian 5-4 in nonconference boys tennis Tuesday at High Point Country Club's Willow Creek courts.
Clark Clodfelter (6-0, 7-6 (8-6)), Preston Kendrick (6-4, 6-3), Kyan Smith (7-5, 7-6 (7-4)) and Finch Lambeth (6-1, 6-4) won in singles for the Wildcats. Clodfelter/Kendrick (8-0) won in doubles.
Westchester improved to 2-0 overall.
