WALLBURG — Ledford beat Lexington 9-0 in PAC Seven 4A/5A girls soccer Monday at Ledford.

Maggie Eccard had three goals and three assists for the Panthers (13-3-2 overall, 10-0 conference). Carmen Hughes had two goals, while Katelyn Hemric had a goal and an assist.

Addie Robertson, Avery Dunbar and Gracie Johnson each had a goal. Bella Montesa had an assist. Qolbe Olson earned the shutout in goal.

BISHOP McGUINNESS, SOUTHWEST GUILFORD

KERNERSVILLE — Bishop McGuinness edged Southwest Guilford 1-0 in nonconference girls soccer Monday at Bishop.

Laney Heafner scored a goal off an assist from Annabelle Pirkl for the Villains (12-4-2). MacKenna Langdon, who made two saves, and Heather Hamilton, who made one save, split time in goal.

Maya Lance was in goal for the Cowgirls (12-7-1).

EAST DAVIDSON, WEST DAVIDSON

TYRO — East Davidson outlasted West Davidson 1-0 in overtime Monday in Central Carolina 3A Conference girls soccer at West Davidson. The Golden Eagles improved to 11-8 overall and 4-6 in the conference.

RAGSDALE, WESTERN GUILFORD

JAMESTOWN — Ragsdale won 4-1 against Western Guilford in Metro 6A/7A Conference girls soccer Monday at Ragsdale.

Micah Moody had two goals for the Tigers (12-4 overall, 7-4 conference). Jacquelyn Shaner and Gabby Graham each had a goal and an assist. Mara Cothran got the win in goal.

BOYS TENNIS

WHEATMORE, GOLDSBORO

GOLDSBORO — No. 5 Wheatmore lost 5-2 against No. 4 Goldsboro on Monday at Goldsboro in the third round of the NCHSAA 3A boys tennis dual-team playoffs. The Warriors concluded their season at 10-6.

INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKETS SET

TRIAD — Eight area athletes will have a shot at winning a state championship this weekend during the NCHSAA boys tennis individual state championships.

Play will be Friday and Saturday, starting each day at 9 a.m. Sites will be: 1A/2A at North Main Athletic Complex in Holly Springs; 3A and 4A at Burlington Tennis Center; and 5A and 6A at Cary Tennis Park.

Making the championships, which are three-round single-elimination brackets, are:

1A/2A singles — Bishop McGuinness’ Luke Ansari

4A doubles — Ledford’s Miller Richardson/Maddox Penland and Landon Thoma/Carson Cosper

5A singles — Oak Grove’s Chris Morris

5A doubles — Oak Grove’s Ryley Morris/Eli Fulcher.

LACROSSE

BISHOP McGUINNESS GIRLS, WEST STOKES

KING — Bishop McGuinness defeated West Stokes 19-1 in Conference 4 girls lacrosse Monday at West Stokes.

Grace Gerber had five goals and two assists for the Villains (18-2 overall, 9-0 conference), followed by MK Suire with four goals and one assist, Stella Ropko with two goals and one assist and Ellie Brown with two goals.

Emery Grunwald had a goal and three assists. Sophie Varner, Cecilia Drabik and Sasha Thompson each had a goal and an assist. Morgan Aho and Isabel Gerber each had one goal, and Jenna Moore had one assist.

Maddie Edwards, who had two saves, and Aveanna Woelfel, who had one save, split time in goal.
