I wonder how KVB would look in a Texans uniform?

If the Cards are truly in cahoots with Terrell Suggs and he is going to be the man then it makes sense to make sure he is the man. The Cards need to take the risk out of the equation, trade up to the 3rd slot and draft the guy. The Bears and Texans can say all they want about how disappointed they are with his workout, but the fact that the owner of the Texans came personally to his workout means they are serious about this kid and the Bears know that they must win now and Suggs gives them the best opportunity to win now.

If the Cards sign Vonnie Holliday there is going to be a logjam at the defensive end position. Many have mentioned that KVB would be a fine 3-4 defensive end (so-so against the pass, but solid against the run). He also is one of only a handful of kids I think the Texans would be willing to trade down for. He would fill a need and would give the Texans a solid person in the clubhouse.

KVB is a tough guy to give up, but it is probably going to take something to move up. Also, we aren't about to spend 5 mil. a year on Holliday and at least that much on Suggs to have an 8 man rotation. KVB would be relegated to mop up duty and a fill in somebody gets hurt. He deserves better than that.

Suggs is an IF and Holliday is an IF.

But you can never have to many D linemen...

That being said, IF we happen to hit the lottery and get both Suggs & Holliday it wouldnt be a problem at all. Beause Holliday can play DE or DT...

A line of:

Vandenbosh Holliday Bryant Suggs

Looks damn good to me!

If Holliday Bryant and Suggs cant make a damn good Pass rush then I dont know what will...

nonononononononononononono...

KVB must stay! I refuse to have ALL of my jerseys be of FORMER Cardinals players...

Besides which, KVB would still have the potential of playing 80%+ of the time. I doubt that Suggs (if drafted) would play on anything but passing downs, which would allow the coaching staff to move Holliday (if signed) since he has the size next to Bryant to provide some up-the-gut pressure.

It would look like this:

Balanced/rushing downs

LDE: Vanden Bosch
LDT: Bell/Tanner/DT du' jour
RDT: Bryant
RDE: Holliday

Passing downs

LDE: Vanden Bosch
LDT: Holliday
RDT: Bryant
RDE: Suggs

don't forget about Dennis Johnson. My guess is he'll see a lot of time this year.

I would really hope so...If he can become the pass-rusher he was drafted to be (instead of a schlep like he played like last year) that could be quite a formidible D-Line!

My point exactly! So we would be willing to give a kid (Suggs) a 10 million dollar bonus so he can rush the passer on 3rd downs? That is absurd. I put out a hook and many of you Suggs fanatics bit. Are we really willing to pay a kid that much money and use him as a 3rd down specialist?

Sorry guys but if we draft Suggs he will unseat KVB by seasons start at DE. Thats assuming we sign Holliday as well!

If we dont sign Holliday then our starting DEs would be Suggs and KVB. Thats of course assuming we land Suggs as well!

TO many ifs! So yes Holian he would be worth the 10 million in Bonus because he will be starting either way IMO!

The way that we go through D-Linemen combined with the fact that our entire line is pretty bad, combined with the fact that there's no way that Suggs demands a $10 mil signing bonus (#1 pick QBs get that bonus, not Top 10 DEs), means that you weren't dangling much of a hook. Suggs will be an every-down player, playing 75-80 percent of the snaps. KVB will probably play on the right side (strong side), along with Holliday, and I'm sure that they'll split time on passing downs, with Johnson going in on passing downs, and Holliday probably moving into the middle.

Suffice it to say that if we can sign enough D-linemen to keep Wakefield, Tanner, and Bell off the field as much as possible, we'll be in good shape.

Kerouac, you spend most of your time coming off like some sort of John Clayton-esque arrogant "Uber-Geek", but then you fire off a righteous statement like this and totally redeem yourself!

I couldn't agree with you more...:D

Actual $10 million sounds just about right for the #6 pick in the draft. Ryan Sims(DT) last year signed a 7-year deal with a $10 million bonus, so a 6 year deal w/$10 million bonus this year would be just about right for inflation purposes.

The Rookie pool remains essentially flat over the past couple years, and it probably won't grow much this season, either, from all accounts.

Also, remember: there was a lot of shady stuff going on with signing picks there. It was Simms and McKinnie picked one after the other, and I don't think either of them signed until well into the season, and both filed grievances against their teams.

If Suggs does get signed to a deal with a bonus that big, it'll be the type of thing where that's all he gets, and gets the rookie minimum as salary over the life of the contract. If that's the case, and it's a five-year deal (the standard contract), then he's being paid less than Holliday.
