and Torey Lovullo told the D-backs
announcer that he plays the .050
hitting Jake Lamb, because he hits
the ball in the air?!?!?

Colorado is the place for lift so Lamb starts all the games there?

The light hitting Jay is still coming off the bench to start instead of Varsho being given a chance.

I hate posting it over and over. Even worse, I hate seeing it over and over, just as I did with Cron.

The Manager is sabotaging our good young prospects. There is no excuse for tolerating that.

That's a fair question.

Except for two things. His response concerned a game not in Denver.

And Lamb is not in the lineup tonight in Denver.

Torey's behavior would be laughable if it weren't so sad!

When I saw that we had an early 2-1 lead, I turned on the game.

We are now leading the Rockies 8-7 in the bottom of the 6th.

Colorado baseball.

Ray predictably leaves the game early, struggling yet again, but instead of putting in our regular long reliever (Young) immediately, Lovullo has yet another brain fart and puts in late-inning specialist Ginkel, who promptly gives up 2 more runs before he finally goes to Young afterward.

What was once an 8-3 lead (once again in part thanks to opponent errors) is now 8-7, and the offense has fallen asleep again.

How much more leash is Hazen going to let Lovullo have?

D-backs open up an11-7 lead in the top of the 7th.

Too bad they don't play half of their games at Coors.

In yet another brain fart, Lovullo brings in a struggling Chafin to start the bottom of the ninth, and predictably, Chafin promptly leads the bases.

If the D-Backs blow a 5 run lead in the bottom of the ninth, I hope this is the end for Lovullo.

Ah, a typical Coors game. They'll probably all have Coors (Colorado Kool-Aid) after the game.

Final score --12-8 D'backs.

Archie just saved both the game and Lovullo's job, in my opinion. I could not see any way Lovullo would have survived blowing a 5 run lead in the bottom of the ninth tonight.

Easy, man! You already posted that.

No manager would get fired over losing a slugfest at Coors Field.

It's like playing wild-card poker (which I detest).

But when you put in clearly the wrong pitcher not once, but twice, in a game, after doing so in three of the last five games, and you then combine that with head scratchers like putting Kole Calhoun in the leadoff spot before putting Starling Marte there and putting Jake Lamb in the line-up at all...

IIRC, this is the second time all season that Torey didn't micromanage his lineup.

The same nine batters from start to finish. And we had good offensive numbers both times.

I've called his constant in-game substitutions and position changes "pot luck". Stabs in the dark.
Huff'n'puff management. "I must be good. Look at all the moves I'm making." Uh, look at the record!

Hey, Torey, see what happens when your guys are given a chance? And you stay focused?

And make sound decisions? Imagine if Varsho had been given the starts over Jay since he was brought up.
And the confidence he would develop playing the series in Coors Field. Another lost opportunity.

BTW, twelve runs scored and only one by "lift". After the first batter of the game, 46 at-bats without a HR
and we scored eleven more runs.

Whether Torey deserves to be fired or not, he’s not going to be in this weird 60 game season.

pretty much every manager will get a pass.
