Lukes is an institution in the area. Give me that bad boy dipped with provolone and some well done fries brother. Defalcos is another place I would suggest. Not better than Lukes IMO but solid none the less.

Portillos is pretty average and never consistent on quality. Plus their au jus is so bland to me.

All that said Phx Metro is pretty devoid of good Italian beef sandwich offerings.

I'm blessed to live within a half mile of DeFalcos, and Portillo's isn't far either (under 4 miles)

Actually I had a Subway sandwich today loaded with vegetables. It was quite good.

LOL...The Subway Club is still my all time favorite sandwich...just love them the way I build them.
and the Pastrami on sourdough at TOGO's is top notch too...definitely S-Tier as far as chain sandwiches go

my third S-Tier chain sandwich is the pastrami on sourdough at that chain with the whacky name, the guys who make their own breads, and its round...schlotskys, thats it!!

Culvers fish dinner is awesome. I've never tried their fish sandwich. I'm not much for sea food. Beer battered cod and corn meal breaded catfish. The only fish sandwich I've had is McDonald's. I've had fish tacos that were good too.

There was a sub shop on 43rd Ave and Indian School across from the old Kmart. Can't remember the name of it but I made many a stop there after bar time. Yes it was open late.
