This is pretty much how an NFL draft war room actually works. The Cards draft room in a pretty chill place, because they have an idea of what they're going to do in almost any scenario. It's just a series of If/Then decisions that have been discussed and decided on long before the draft ever happens.

For prospect rankings purposes, I'm using the CBSSportsline.com draft prospect rankings. I'm assuming everyone ranked higher than 15 is selected.

1. Randy Gregory, OLB/DE, Nebraska is available?
YES - Draft him
NO - Proceed to 2

2. Trade offer for 2015 2nd round pick + 2016 first round pick?
YES - Execute trade
NO - Proceed to 3

3. How many of the following prospects are available?
- Cameron Erving, OL, Florida State
- Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
- Breshard Perriman, WR, UCF
- Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE/OLB, UCLA
- Byron Jones, CB, UConn
- Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest
- Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
- Eli Harold, DE/OLB, Virginia

0 - Inquire for trade opportunities to move out of first round for a 3rd round pick or better
1 - 3 - Draft the highest rated available player from this group.
4 - 6 - Inquire for trade opportunities to move down 3-5 selections for a 5th round pick or better
6 - 8 - Inquire for trade opportunities to move out of first round for a 5rd round pick or better

darren urban wrote in his blog that gregory has deeper off field issues then ray
so i think cardinals could just have ray in their board
after darren wrote this
RE: Gregory
I think, after the Washington stuff, it’ll be tough to pull that trigger.

then i read this tweet by garofolo

MikeGarafolo 1-on-1 with @Huskers Randy Gregory, says he may have been "too honest" with some teams.
Says he probably rubbed some teams the wrong way with his answers but preferred to be more honest than not.

I take option 1-3 and take best player out of the above group.

6-8 doesn't make any sense to me. You better get at least a 2 and high 3rd for moving out of the 1st Rd.

I assumed it meant to swap our 1st for another pick and then pick up an additional pick, which should be a 5th or better.

How far down in the 2nd do you think we'd have to move to get a 2016 1st? I'm curious if we can pull off option #2 and still get a guy from option #3. It would be really nice to have an extra 1st this time next year.

I actually don't think that anyone makes that deal. I don't care if you move from 25th overall to 64th overall; if you have a chance to trade and pick up a future 1st rounder, that's too good an asset to pick up.

I think you're giving up the opportunity to snatch a choice of that broad second-tier of prospects (I think there are 40-50 players there), and you're getting the BPA from a pretty picked-over pool. Although that's how we got Bucannon, so not too shabby.
