No Doubt?

We lost to the Titans
Yeah, in an act of god.

The Pats straight up got man handled by the Raiders without 3 once in a lifetime fluke plays.

The Titans debacle happened, but its really not a pattern for how our team plays. It was the most miraculous defeat in living memory.

I honestly think our roster is in a decent spot aside from some obvious holes. I’ve been really back and forth on whether Gannon is the guy for us. I used to think the team hadn’t quit on him, which seemed obvious by us keeping these games close that we’re losing.

My new thought though, is that maybe the roster is actually pretty solid and that’s why we’re staying in these games - not necessarily because of him. Maybe a different coach gets a lot more out of the talent we already have.

Look at the impact Drake Maye has made on that Patriots team.

Some think we are miles away from a winning team.

Look at the Patriots starting 11. Aside from Drake Maye, which starters are better than what we have. Be honest.

And how many are worse? How many could you honestly name without looking?

This team has many of the pieces, but no keystone. And yes, some of that might be coaching.

Good post. However, becoming a consistently winning team goes beyond names and how any of us might assess and compare talent level. Yes, the Jimmy and the Joe's matter. And we can say the Cards have many players who could be considered on par or better than their peers at same positions across the league. And yet, we still lose.

Teams like the Patriots, Texans, Panthers, Buccaneers, Bears... perhaps the Hawks can be included here... are filled with players many of us would say are at best, equal to their Cardinal peers. Yet, they're winning while this franchise continues to remain a cellar-dweller.

IMHO, it takes the right players who possess enough football IQ, talent and grit, PLUS, an alpha leader or two, PLUS the right head coach and full compliment of position coaches.
Putting our players in the right positions to be successful... Calling the right play at the right time... Preparing the players each week in ways that create the best chances for wins... These are the areas this franchise seems to never get right. I mean, how did it take Brissett to unveil Michael Wilson and unlock Zay Jones before he got hurt?
How can it be explained that this o-line, which is virtually the exact same o-line from a year ago, has fallen off a cliff? Why is Josh Sweat the only credible pass rusher? In what universe does it make sense to go for a long 4th and 1, inside your own 40 yards line, down one score??

We have players who, in abundance it seems, lack the level of football IQ found on many other teams throughout the league. And, based upon the results, we seem to be lacking in the coaching area across the entire team.

Yeah, the clock management last couple of games has shown me that the coaching and team has no concept about situational football. The end of the Jacksonville game was a joke. Any competent coach would have called a timeout in regulation to try and win. Same with the final 4th down play call.
Washington did something similar against Denver in almost exact same situation at end of game. They didn’t convert but at least they tried and then kicked to tie and send to overtime.

You're completely wrong about the Jacksonville game. You dont call the timeout because the defense is more likely to not be set in a hurry up situation after a big gain, it also means the defense have to keep their current personnel on the field instead of getting the perfect package for the situation.

Either way is arguable, but no coach is saying you always call the timeout.

Drake Maye is one of the few QBs in the league that can actually carry a roster, hes up there with Allen, Mahomes, Daniels.

Also despite the sorry shape of our team I had no doubt we could beat the Jetsx2, Dolphins, Browns, Giants, Bengals, and Raiders.

The Giants werent even trying to win last nights game. They went down multiple scores early due to a kickoff return TD, and instead of doing what we do and passing 50 times, they ran more than they passed and punted every 4th and short. Dart was visibly disgusted with the playcalling. The Giants just wanted to run out the clock and hope the game ended before the score got too bad.
It didn't help much when their kicker Koo grounded his foot into the turf almost a full yard in front of the ball...lll

If the Cardinals started their season over @ the Saints, KNOWING what we know about this season thus far, would we be better off? The one constant that has been hanging like a dark cloud over this team is the coaching. You would think after the first few avoidable losses that we could have turned things around. I have zero faith that we would. Season is over directly because of coaching. (and the Demerecado fumble)

It's the organization at the top.

If I heard right, NE has everything in place and has the most cap space this offseason.

If the roster isn't too far off, why do the Cards need a new GM?
What if I told you this roster has shocking parallels to the 2012 roster.

Both had Kyler Murray at QB were injured to end the year.

Both had James Conner as the lead back who got injured.

Both had a young back Trey Benson/Eno Benjamin who also got injured.

Both had Trey McBride and another TE who got injured (Ertz/Tip)

Both had Beachum at RT.

Both had a top 8-14 LT Humphries/PJJ.

Both had a vet C who wasn't as good as people wanted him to be Hudson/Fro.

Both had Will Hernandez at G.

Both had a disappointing 3rd round draft pick at G. Josh Jones/Isaiah Adams.

Both had the #1 WR getting injured and not performing ideally. Hopkins/MHJ.

Both had the best DL on the team as a vet who was going to retire. JJ Watt/Calais Campbell.

Both had one player in double digit sacks and no one else over 5.5 (premature but Sweat/JJ Watt)

Both had a young DL player who made splash plays (Allen/Nolen)

Best CB on both teams was a nickel CB (Murphy and Gwill)

Both had Budda and Jalen Thompson as S.

Both had bad ILB play.

we almost lost to the Saints. But we couldn't loose to the other bad teams... even after losing to the worst team in the league also?

we'll also get to see if we can lose to the Bengals.

OK, here’s a question that has not appeared in this discussion thread: every week, it seems, another Cardinals player is going on Injured Reserve and others are not playing because of lesser injuries. The RB room has been decimated because of injuries. Other positions too. I was trying to determine how many players have missed games this year? Is there a measure across the NFL that would show injuries per team? For example, there are 22 starting players per game (obviously there is a QB 1 and QB2, RT1 and RT2, TE1, and so on). Is there a metric that would show the missed games the various players have missed? Which team has played with the most starters. Which team has had the most 2s or 3s in the game. Maybe there’s a value for a No. 1, and a lesser value for a No2 and so on. Which team would look better because they have the most starters playing more snaps.

I doubt that we can beat the Bengals with Burrow as their quarterback.

It wouldn't surprise me me if we lost to some of the other teams listed too. I don't think we'd think we'd go 7-0 or close to that against them.

I disagree. Almost any coach worth his weight is going to clock it there and at least take a couple shots in the endzone for the win before settling for a tie to go to overtime. Even the commentators were shocked that they didn't spike it. 9 times out of 10, they are going to clock it in that situation.

LG - Justin Pugh to Evan Brown

NT - Leki Fotu to Dalvin Tomlinson
DE - Zach Allen to Walter Nolen

This is the Patriots current starting lineup, which doesn't include their injured players like Will Campbell and Milton Williams.

Also, how many of our players would they want to swap into their lineup? McBride, MHJ and Sweat for sure. Probably Nolen. Maybe Budda. Beyond that, I don't really see any.
You said Budda LOLOLOLOLOL

7 of the 11 offensive starters in 2023 are still starters in 2025. Counting Murray/Conner. Only changes LG, RT, WR1, WR3 (I list RT as PJJ started at RT but is now LT)
