We're a little over a week away from when veteran players for the New England Patriots are set to report for training camp. Until then, team captain and quarterback Drake Maye had his fun working with the New England-based athletes of the future at a youth football camp.
The camp was in partnership with FlexSports, the same organization that also held a training camp with Efton Chism III and Kayshon Boutte just a week earlier.
Maye took to the field in 90-degree heat in Mansfield, Massachusetts, on Thursday to host a youth football camp with over 100 participants. It was the first of three camps being held this week in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Maye took part in just about everything that was going on during the event. He played quarterback for both teams in two-hand touch games and also took time to take photos with kids, along with a few high-fives. There were even a few "Drake Maye" chants going on, too.
The 23-year-old quarterback has been on the move with these youth football camps this past week. He had another event earlier on in Auburn, Massachusetts, where he spoke with ESPN's Mike Reiss.
“Got a bunch of kids out here; should be some fun," Maye said. "We actually got a good day; the fog cleared out, so looking forward to being out with the kids. We got a bunch of kids and just playing football."
Maye was throwing some absolute dimes to kids on the field at Alumni Field in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The Patriots QB1 helped teams drive down the field with the game on the line. He also would sub in and play wide receiver if need be.
The next stop on Maye's youth football camp tour will be in Londonderry, New Hampshire, on Friday. After that, the Patriots quarterback shifts his focus towards training camp with a long road ahead of him in 2026 to get back to the Super Bowl.
Maye's parting words for the kids at the camp?
"I think you just gotta dream big. I think it starts here," Maye said. "It starts at this age, falling in love with the game. And I think just getting something out of the fundamentals of it. One of the biggest things that we preach and that Coach (Mike) Vrabel does is details, fundamentals, and technique.”
