Some think we are miles away from a winning team.

Look at the Patriots starting 11. Aside from Drake Maye, which starters are better than what we have. Be honest.

And how many are worse? How many could you honestly name without looking?

This team has many of the pieces, but no keystone. And yes, some of that might be coaching.

We aren't too far off, roster wise. The defense needs a little work, but not the end of the world kind of work it needed the last offseason. The offense needs much more work, but getting the right QB will take this team a lot further than posters might believe. Of course, finding and developing that QB is a huge caveat. The even bigger caveat is that the GM and coaching staff need to be changed and gotten right for this to work. But the base roster, as is, isn't as far away as we might think.

lol @ “might be”

A big part is coaching.

Can’t use the Kyler excuse because Jacoby has played solid ball, yes, obviously better than Kyler

And yet, we’re still losing games.

Vrabel is a much better HC than Gannon. He has shown that in Tennessee with Ryan Tannehill as the starting QB now he’s showing it in New England.

I have always liked Vrabel as a coach. I think Tennessee were idiots to get rid of him.
However, I don't think NE is near as good as their record shows. Even though they had the big win against Buffalo, they have played a crap schedule. Their wins are against Jets, Panthers, Saints, Titans, Browns, Giants, Bengals, Falcons, Dolphins.
I guess what I am saying is, don't use NE roster as an example of what to strive for. They are the exception.

I'm so happy that you brought up the Patriots! We're told time and time again that good teams don't build in FA. The #1 team in the AFC who was just as bad as us decided to go for it, and now they're thriving.

Let's keep up with the 10 year plan though, it's working swimmingly.

Just because we can’t name them doesn’t mean they aren’t nfl competent. We all know Budda Baker Jalen Thompson and Zevon Collins, and they STINK

It's the leadership (or lack thereof) of this organization that gives me concern. Been following them for way too many years to have any faith at the top.
Sad but true. The difference is close games.

The Cards are 0-7 in games this year decided by 4 points or less for a 3-9 record.
The Broncos are 7-0 in games this year decided by 4 points or less for a 10-2 record.

Teams, especially those without a good ownership need to learn how to win. Willing close games is a skill that is mostly mental.

Look at Denver:

Titans (w) by 8
Colts (l) by 1
Chargers (l) by 3
Bengals (w) by 25

Then this win streak:
Eagles by 4
Jets by 2 (13-11)
Giants by 1
Cowboys by 20
Texans by 3
Raiders by 3 (10-7)
Chiefs by 3
Commanders by 1

7-0 in that streak by 4 points or less
Cardinals 0-7 by 4 points or less this season

Denver has won 2 games scoring less than 15.
4 games less than 20
6 games less than 22

They have a solid D, a great coach, and a very mediocre QB, but winning games.

To me, that is 100% coaching.

If the roster isn't too far off, why do the Cards need a new GM?

This is the Patriots current starting lineup, which doesn't include their injured players like Will Campbell and Milton Williams.

Also, how many of our players would they want to swap into their lineup? McBride, MHJ and Sweat for sure. Probably Nolen. Maybe Budda. Beyond that, I don't really see any.

Drake Maye is one of the few QBs in the league that can actually carry a roster, hes up there with Allen, Mahomes, Daniels.

Also despite the sorry shape of our team I had no doubt we could beat the Jetsx2, Dolphins, Browns, Giants, Bengals, and Raiders.

The Giants werent even trying to win last nights game. They went down multiple scores early due to a kickoff return TD, and instead of doing what we do and passing 50 times, they ran more than they passed and punted every 4th and short. Dart was visibly disgusted with the playcalling. The Giants just wanted to run out the clock and hope the game ended before the score got too bad.
