This looks like a tough road trip right now. but, hell, they were so miserable at home in this last stand maybe it will actually help to get out on the road.

Mets, D-backs struggling ahead of clash after hot starts
NEW YORK — For 39 straight days between April 4 and May 12, the Arizona Diamondbacks or the New York Mets held at least a share of the best record in the National League. But those five-plus weeks may seem like ancient history Friday night, when the struggling teams meet for the first game of a three-game series at Citi Field.

The Mets’ Jacob deGrom (3-0, 1.83 ERA) is scheduled to take on the Diamondbacks’ Zack Godley (4-2, 4.08) in a battle of right-handers.

The Mets and Diamondbacks were off Thursday after suffering lopsided losses on Wednesday. New York fell to visiting Toronto 12-1 and host Arizona was beaten by Milwaukee 8-2.

Souza and Lamb both hitting ahead of Goldy. I like it! When I proposed that Goldy be moved down in the order, I said that I would like to see Souza move to his #3 spot. Second with the lefty Lamb third, to break up the lefties, is OK.

I'm glad to see Ahmed benched vs. the righty so Descalso can remain in the lineup, with Marte moving to SS. I expect it won't be permanent, but I wish it were, with Ahmed starting vs. lefties.

Edit: Godley vs. deGrom. The stats say 'no way, Godley'. We'll see what happens.

Lamb fits right into lineup, follows Souza's strike out with one of his own

Meanwhile, Godley issues a four-pitch walk to first batter he faces

And the game is likely over. Error by Descalso, Mets score a run without getting a hit. Should have ended the inning, but only one out now.

And first hit brings in another run.

Dbacks in a hole 2-0.

Game over

After 2 innings of at-bats, Dbacks have zero base runners
