2025 Week 3 Snap Counts and Thoughts

Leaders put the blame on themselves first. If you are choosing to throw to a WR the caliber of Zay Jones in a critical situation, you can't put it on the back shoulder where the defender has a chance to contest the catch. One player makes 45 mil and the other makes 4 (i think). The disparity is there for a reason.

I throw a lot of criticism Kyler’s way but a professional wide receiver needs to catch that ball, whether it’s a little high or not.

But we decided to do absolutely nothing on offense this off-season and we got what we paid for yesterday.

I'm pretty sure a spot that doesn't allow the DB to get an arm in and body you is better.

Zay should catch it, but also that chance would be higher if Kyler placed the ball in front of him and more away from the DB.

My notes mostly line up with Choppers.

Offense:
1. Josh Fryar came in mostly for Jumbo package 9 times, likely taking snaps that would have gone to TE Travis Vokolek who didn't play.
2. Trey Benson's workload doubled, obviously due to Conner's injury, but it was trending to a larger role for this week regardless. Injury opened up Demercado for additional touches, mostly to spell Benson towards end of the game.
3. Tip back to regular workload following missed game last week - no easing him back in.
4. MHJ usage down about 10% - suspect to let him get his head right after horrific drops. - led to additional plays for Michael Wilson.


Defense:
1. Rabbit played all but 1 snap. Unbelievable that the rebounded after last weeks injury.
2. Whatever DR's issues are, they haven't limited his usage. Remains consistent game to game. (Even I am starting to question if he'll ever put up "decent" numbers.)
3. Who the heck is Anthony Goodlow (8 snaps)? I seriously don't ever remember hearing his name before.
4. Davis-Gaither had his second consecutive material increase in usage this week. Now playing 80%. Not sure who's snaps he is taking. Is he in some sort of hybrid Nickle CB role?
5. Jordan Burch snaps continue to increase each week. Cards must like him. At current usage, he's about at the max that we allow guys to play in our rotation.

The alternative perspective is out the ball in a place where the defender can't reach. The WR had leverage and then had to give it up because of the placement of the ball.

Ultimately, you can't say that Zay Jones sucks and then expect him to make a contested catch on the most pivotal play of the game.

Jordan Burch snaps continue to increase each week. Cards must like him. At current usage, he's about at the max that we allow guys to play in our rotation.

Yup really interesting. I wonder how much was dictated by packages and situations. For all those snaps I don’t recall hearing his name much. One tackle.

What a great throw with the game on the line!

Clutch throw, 100%, and I'll fight anybody who says otherwise!

I just watched the replay about five times. Jones didn't really have to slow down at all to make the catch at all. A tiny bit at most, but Murray still hit him in in stride.

The DB was able to close on him some after Jones came out of his break, and the throw could have been about a foot more to right of the QB, but it was still a great throw though.

The DB did not get a hand on the ball.

The sad part from the replay was watching Big Play Trey and a couple of other Cardinals start to celebrate when they saw Jones get two hands on it and pull it to his body.

Thoughts and feelings post "it was on his back shoulder".

If you can't come down with this ball you don't belong in the league. Sadly our GM thinks Jones is still NFL quality.

I said he had to slow down a little, but only very marginally.

Here's the replay (the 2nd replay is the best angle). It's a little hard to tell, because Jones goes out of the picture just a little while the ball is in the air, but when he comes back into the frame, he's still moving across the field at about the same speed.

I have NFL + and watched the replay several times. At no point watching that play should it occur to anyone, “huh, that was a bad pass.” We’re grasping for straws.

It wasn’t meant on your general character. I believe you to be a pretty solid guy. I just think you’re so clouded in regard to Kyler that you don’t even know when you’re bending the facts.
