The concussions scare me. They also haven’t been a team to fully embrace rebuilds in the past, regardless id be surprised if they are having a fire sale on young, cost controlled talent.
my theory is:
1. they have a year to see if Rattler or Shough provide enough flashes to conclude that one of them is "the answer"
2. IF not, and that is probably the scenario -- they will be looking to add a highly drafted QB and the rebuild officially begins.
3. At that point, Olave is headed into his option year. Usually -- if you havent extended a player at that point, he is headed into UFA the next offseason.
4. By trading him now, NO gets better comp (two years of a contract vs a single year ) and gets it for a draft where they may need to move up a few spots to get the guy they want.
My theory admittedly isnt airtight -- and NO has done things differently than most --so who knows. And -- you would have to be very comfortable with the concussion situation
