This draft was tough for me. I liked both Simmons and Derrick Brown last year before they made the decision to return to school. That said, most people know on this board that I am a proponent of having a top offensive line to support a QB. I am disappointed we did not take Wirfs, but Simmons is a hell of a player. If he fails, it will be because the Cardinals were not smart enough to find ways to play to his strengths vs his weaknesses. I think Seattle, San Francisco and LA will target him. I think they will target his size, inexperience and lack of instincts. Simmons is a tremendous athlete and seems to be a good kid. Hopefully we don't mess this up.

I'm good with it, Simmons is a superb talent and our defense is garbage. I'd like to solidify the line in front of Kyler but there are likely to be some decent tackles on the board at the top of the 3rd.

My concern with him has always been similar to the concerns we have heard from scouts and analysts. To get the best out of him you really need to write your whole defense around him and I don't think we have the coaching talent anywhere on the D side to do that. From Vance, to Davis and all they way down to Robertson. Nobody on the defensive side inspires me with confidence. Especially Vance.

If we had Todd Bowles I'd be putting money on Simmons for DROY.

A lot is resting on Simmons to just be too good to be coached down.

I am ecstatic! I had absolutely ZERO faith that Keim was going to pick the right O-linemen and two of my favorite Cardinals ever (Dansby, Jamir Miller) have been exactly in Simmons mold. That guy is going to make the LB corp one of the best in the league.

I absolutely love this pick. Size, speed and true versatility. Like when we had honey badger at his best, it was difficult to define his position. So will it be with this guy. Which will make him difficult to game plan for.

I love that he wants to hit. His movement is extremely fluid. Almost looks effortless. And for a tall dude, that’s impressive. No stiffness. And he closes really quickly. So quickly it’s surprising because he doesn’t look like he’s moving that fast or going to make the play. That’s his stride and overall length.

our team has always played at its best defensively with versatile fast linebackers like Dansby and dwash. And though it’s impossible to truly predict this . . . I think he might end up better than both. He won’t be Kuechly, but I hope his impact is Kuechly-esque.

I am shocked he fell to us and we took him. Shocked and elated.

After watching TE after TE set career single game marks vs he Cards the year prior, I really thought Isiah was the answer

Isiah turned out to be too straight lined, too long limbed to cover NFL players in the secondary but not instinctive enough to play near the LOS.

I remember hearing an interview with his college coach Dabo on Ron and Wolf. Even he thought his best position would be ILB. Although he might have just been pandering to Wolfley because the Cardinals already named him to ILB.

Imagine if we drafted soley on BPA? If it’s a minimal point variation between players, I get the “need” weighing into the decision, but BPA is gospel IMO…

We could have totally used Lamb.

It also evidences how being too tied to position can hurt. Though some liked wirfs, he would’ve been a right tackle here and no one wants to draft a right tackle that high.
