On a lighter note: You couldn’t have asked for a better intro from Beck. He looked like a veteran with his poise, decision making and accuracy. He did not look or sound scared of the moment.

Agreed completely. He did everything he could possibly do coming out of the gate. Couldn't have asked for better from him. Still questionable as to where he goes from here, but, man, wouldn't it be great if the Cards got a QB steal in the 3rd? I mean, aren't we, the long-suffering fans, freaking due?

we saw alot on offense last night - lafleur established the run early then transitioned to the carson beck show

i've been publicly wondering the whole time - was the beck pick all monti - or did lafleur want him - was it both? idk - doesn't really matter now because beck and lafleur paired like my android and bose speaker making sweet sweet music

granted the defense was dog ish and all beck had to do was make throws but damn - he threw it all over and to whomever was most open forcing lafleur to open the playbook in the 3rd quarter - goes from vanilla to a nice swirl - starts trusting beck to make more complex reads and throws - beck responded by calling audibles and seizing control

lafleur may have been more nervous than beck was - he had the big eyes - then beck earned his trust live on national television - making their first impressions a most memorable one

lafleur runs the type of techmo bowl offense i've wanted for years - same looks with endless playcall selections - sharp routes timed with the 2 or 3 second qb dropback - mcbride and wilson are gonna eat

far as qb goes who knows - but i'm guessing brissett better get some wins after getting his 15 million - and with beck eventually breathing down his neck

It seems like Beck played well enough that if (when?) Brissett falters in the regular season that we will be calling for a long look at him. Knowing the Cardinal way, he will do just good enough to play us out of blue chip QB draft position this year. Then fall to earth next year if we decide to hitch our fortunes to him.

For our sake I hope he keeps this level of play up throughout the preseason. Along with still playing well when defenses have tape of him in the regular season if (when?) he gets a chance. I've never seen this team with a long term answer at QB. It would be nice.

Frankly even if he wins us a couple of games in the regular season and looks good in the process, we should still draft a QB if we're in range next off season. We could always trade the prospect down the road if Beck proves to be legit next year. Montis "stellar" trade history not withstanding.

He showed IMO that there is a good chance that he develops into belonging in the NFL. Time will tell if that means starter, fringe starter/quality back-up, journeyman back-up or 3rd stringers.

Hey, some decent guys were picked in the 3rd round before. Joe Montana, Danny White, Jay Schroeder, Nick Foles, Dan Fouts, Russell Wilson, Ken Anderson, Neil O'Donnell, Fran Tarkenton, and many others.

But still, many feel Jacoby Brissett is miles ahead of Carson Beck. Brissett was drafted in the...3rd round...26 picks lower than Beck.

I think it is funny how many knock Carson Beck simply for where he was drafted.

He is the Cardinals highest drafted QB on the roster.

Carson Beck - 3rd round, 65th pick
Jacoby Brissett - 3rd round, 91st pick
Gardner Minshew - 6th round, 178th pick
Kedon Slovis - undrafted free agent

Obviously, where you were drafted does not correlate to your future success in the league as we have had an undrafted QB (Warner) win a SB and a 6th rounder (Brady) win the most SBs ever at the position. It's always a crap shoot and no one knows the future.
