Again, not apples to apples. We overpaid for Brown because Kyler wanted him and WR was a hole and Brown was cheap. Plus, most teams could use a deep thread WR.

For Kyler, how many teams are there? Maybe 3? Jets, Dolphins, Steeler? Maybe Atlanta too? Jets probably take Simpson at 16. Steelers and Falcon would have to make some moves to create space for Kyler. Dolphins are over the cap. So, you have two suiters and the Steelers never mover pay. We will be lucky to get a 3rd or 4th for Kyler. These teams will just wait for him to be released if we demand a 2nd. No one is churring a roster for Kyler because they know we are desperate to move on. Ownership bugled this from the start and we will not very little.
Other teams don’t play like we do because of, you know, poor Mikey can’t afford it. There will be a team out there that will gladly handover a 3rd round pick.
I’m also getting sick and tired of hearing poor Mikey can’t play like the big boys. He could sell this team for BILLIONS! Enough generational wealth for anybody. But Mikey likes playing real life fantasy football and we are coerced into supporting a minor league NFL team.

Damn straight, Shane. That's why all those stans and homers who treated us like morons when we were shouting into the void that there was no reason to sign KM a year early should take a long walk off a short pier.
The day they signed Kyler to that contract I questioned, once again, Bidwill’s sanity.

The contract is a major deterrent. Not getting my hopes up. Until proven otherwise, I’m guessing they straight up have to cut him. I’m still stunned we got absolutely nothing for D Hop…NOTHING!

The contract isn't as bad as people are making out IMO. There are ways to easily make it work.

By trading Kyler before his 2026 roster bonus kicks in Mid March the Cardinals will save $34.7M in cap space.

The Cardinals could sweeten the deal converting lets say $10M of his 2026 salary to a signing bonus and covering that cost for the team trading for him. This would drop Kylers cap hit for the team trading for him down to $31M for 2026 while the Cardinals would still be able to add $24.7 million to their cap along with a more valuable draft pick for eating the additional salary. The rest of Kylers contract is an easy out after 2026 if the team decides he isn't the answer. So a team desperate for a QB could get Kyler on a fairly cap friendly deal for one year with an easy exit strategy if he doesn't work out.

The two teams I'm targeted are the Jets and the Steelers. Both would easily be able to absorb a $31M contract in 2026 and they both have a ton of extra picks to play with in the 2026 and 2027 drafts.

I would laugh all the way to the draft if the Stillers traded for Kyler Murray. They aren't, though. McCarthy is going to run it back with AA A-ron :D

Yes but how are either of these teams “desperate for a QB”?

A 3rd works for everyone assuming we dont have to also eat money.

We get off his deal, the new team doesnt spend a "high pick" which limits their blame if it fails and increases the praise if it goes well.

The idea that things went down the way they did this year and we keep Kyler is insane. The GM and Owner would have had to be on board with shutting him down for the entire season...no way that is a coach only decision. So are we to think that Michael and Monti were talking with Kyler saying "yea, coach doesnt want to play you...but we still love you...just sit out all year and we will bring in someone new?"

It makes no sense. Either Owner and GM were onboard with benching Kyler all season, effectively ending his time here....or they would have stepped in earlier.

I don’t know we get a third for him unless we eat money. Like a lot of it.
I think we do..probably a late 3rd or a 3rd in 2027.

If you are a team like Jets what choices do you really have? Ty Simpson at 16? A late round rookie?

It doesnt have to be a straight up 3rd rounder either. They could give us 104...which is top of the 4th. We could do Kyler +65 for their #44.

What incentive does Kyler have to facilitate a trade by signing a new/adjusted contract?

Malik Willis?
Jared Stidham?
Kirk Cousins?

A second-round prospect? They’re under no real pressure to win in 2026 that would motivate them to give up assets for a C+ QB.

They currently have worse options than Kyler...
Okay but what motivates them to need to upgrade? Our current options are worse than Kyler and we’re desperate to get rid of him.

Mitch Trubisky for $12 million is a better option than Kyler Murray for $24 million if you just need a body.

I don’t really understand this line of thought. I was told by many on this exact board when Kyler signed his extension four years ago that in a few years, his contract would be considered peanuts. That it would be cheap amongst quarterbacks who are the highest paid in the league. Yet now everybody says it’s a deterrent four years later for a trade. Even with the Cardinals, probably going to have to pick up a portion. If a GM likes Kyler and thinks he’s a possible winning quarterback for their organization the contract shouldn’t matter. Especially one that is now “peanuts” this many years later right?
Couldn't agree more. Not only was I against extending him, I was against drafting him. My high floor, low ceiling comment about Murray was ridiculed and torn to shreds at the time and now I see it coming up with regularity now.

Malik Willis will end up costing as much as Kyler with much less production on tape. Stidham...you want to do everything possible to piss of a fan base then go ahead....Cousins...yes maybe for a year.

Overall if I am a Jets fan I say Kyler Murray for a 4th or a pick swap is much much better than any of those options.

This is a fan base that got itself into a tizzy over Mike White. They’re not choosy.

I think a 4th or a pick swap is about all you’d get for Kyler right now.
