Kirk Cousins is untradeable.

$67 million guaranteed 2027 salary

Holly poop, that is a crazy clause! WOW! That is a terrible deal for Atlanta.

This low cap charge allows the Falcons to designate Cousins a post June 1 release at the start of the new league year. He would remain on the teams cap at $24.6 million until June 1 at which point his cap charge will drop to $22.5 million for the year. $12.5 million in dead money will be deferred to 2027. To ensure the Falcons release him, Atlanta gave him a guarantee trigger on his entire 2027 salary of $67.9 million of the 3rd day of the league year meaning that the Falcons will cut him on March 12th to avoid that trigger.

I mean they got what they wanted. Cousins won’t play a down or attend a training between when the deal is signed and his release. No surprises for them.

Arizona is a live destination for Cousins, IMO. Would start, good weapons, potentially adequate OL. Indoor stadium. No high-pressure primetime games.
Agree. It also means they would not draft a qb on day one and probably day two.

Now, if it were a 2026 2nd or 3rd rounder and a 2026/27 5th, I'd do it in a heartbeat. They can keep fields.
I'd do if the 2027 would become a conditional second.

Yeah… started wondering about this possibility a couple months ago when he got put back on the field and wasn’t embarassing himself like he did towards the end of his stint the previous season.

I could live with that for a year. Build up the rest of the team so when we do tab a QBOTF they have a decent infrastructure around them.

Just say no to Cousins. He is ancient and his body has taken a serious beating. There is zero future with Cousins. He would be a total waste of time and money IMO.
I disagree. You are trying to buy one or two years to develop someone else. Obviously cost is going to matter in comparison to other options but Cousins would be fine provided he doesn't cost 40 mil.

Why buy some other old guy when you already have Jacoby on the roster? At least with Jacoby you know he can survive a season. Cousins wouldn't last 10 minutes behind the Cardinals OL.

I personally don't believe two old guys is off the table for the upcoming year especially when I expect the Cardinals to carry three QBs on the roster. Cousins, Brissett and Nussmeier for 2026 is a reasonable group, and I don't think it would prohibit them from drafting a QB in 2027 either.

I'm ready to get blasted for this but I would like to see JB with a good oline and running game. Not saying he is our future but a good stop gap option until ML finds our QBOTF.

I'm totally fine with Jacoby as the bridge QB for a year or two and another cheap vet as his backup with a mid round rookie rounding out the 2026 QB room. Then going after their QBOTF in the 2027 draft.

This probably means going 13-21 over the next two seasons.
