I don't know why people would have an issue with this. It's no different than bringing in Salah or Shula or Minter IMO.
He was an awful defensive coach here, and became a great defensive coach with insane defensive talent. Can we excuse him for having pretty bad defensive rosters? Considering he tried to do the same thing over and over again, I don't. If he doesn't have the dawgs to run his defense and it isn't working, he just keeps doing the same thing ala Rallis this season. Pass.

We finished 31st in points allowed as a defense in VJ's final year.

We couldn't cover TE's to save our life.

Wow- we have short memories.
Yet Vance is probably the best defensive coordinator in the league, top 3 at the very worst. Why do you think our defense was bad that year? Was it because Vance sucked? Think hard about this question.

Is he bringing his defensive personnel with him? No? He showed he can't elevate a bad defense to even a decent one. Pass.

He proved to not have 'it' as a HC. I think he should stay DC.
What he proved as a HC in Denver is that he shouldn't have let his 1st time DC be in charge of calling plays. Sound familiar? Maybe he's learned his lesson on that. It just takes one question during the interview process to find out.

So has Stefanski and so has salah Salah, but you have a lot of people clamoring to get them in the building under the guys that other coaches have not done good on their first stints

2x NFL Coach of the Year is not quite the same.
Look at his QB situation - WAY worse than us.

Saleh I agree

Coach of the years meaningless lots of crappy head coaches have won coach of the year lol…. It’s like the coaches version of the pro bowl. He’s a double digit losing record. In his offense is boring as hell.

Still not the same - how many playoff appearances does Joseph or Saleh have combined vs Stefanski?

He’s a reasonable fit. He blitzed considerably more often than the Cards, whom Ossenfort built to be strong at blitzing. Joseph used his role players more often and more effectively. Of course this means he was a good DC, but he wasn’t a good HC. Too bad they can’t get him as DC. He might be a better coach the second time around, some are. Just not an exciting pick in my opinion.

Not really:

Under Wilks in 2018, the Cards' defensive rankings were 26 (points) / 20 (yards).

Under Joseph & Kingsbury, they fell to 28/32, then improved to 12/13 and 11/11, then fell to 21/31.

So he was a bit above average for two of his four years.

But, I also recall the Cardinals not knowing where to play Reddick, Simmons, or Collins during Joseph's tenure.

Interesting article about Vance Joseph and the possibility of a second chance.
One thing I liked from the article, regarding Joseph's tenure with the Cardinals: "In his final 12 matchups against divisional stalwarts Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan, Joseph held those offenses to 20 points or fewer eight times (something Jonathan Gannon, who was let go on Monday, managed to do only three times in his three seasons as head coach)."

Wow... very surprising that the first three reported interviews are all defensive coordinators?
Defensive coordinators aren't normally in that high of a demand as head coaches in today's Nfl. So why are we interviewing them first? Shouldn't we be interviewing offensive coordinators first?
