Agreed, the fact that Jacoby can run the offense competently makes him the perfect stop gap for a rookie QB to develop under the wings of hopefully our new OC next year. When Jacoby ceiling isn’t good enough (which I think the majority of us can realize isn’t very high) we will hopefully be ready to unleash the young blood
Total smoke screen. It’s painfully obvious that anyone can see through unless you are taking a strong shot of denial. They are trying to tip toe keeping trade value for Kyler in the likely event we move off him while not fully committing to Jacoby if he flops
True but there’s a reason he’s has so little mileage. Teams have considered him to start, but he’s always fallen short. He’s decent, but not special. That makes him the perfect backup.

There are plenty of coaches who believe you do not lose your starting position due to injury. That's what was so frustrating about Gannon responding to reporter's - like a robot - "If Kyler's healthy, he starts." when asked about Kyler and Jacoby.

They’re not going to cut him. The “dead money” /cap hit is major. With all the get rid of K1 narrative here, I don’t understand why the $$$ ramification is being ignored. That hit is sizable in 2026 as well. At least according to “Over the Cap”
there wasnt a line out the door for JG's services. You take the job then deal with the roster. He dealt with KM to the point he didnt have to anymore
If he plays the rest of the season with the same results that he has the last three games you almost have to have him as you’re starter next year….. sure you still draft a quarterback. But I would say he would’ve earned it.
Obviously. Geno Smith was also 32 when he became the Seahawks starter. That said, they got just two more seasons from him before moving on and now he looks pretty washed.

I think Gannon and MO HAD to be married to Kyler if for no other reason because of the contract and salary cap. If he went into that meeting an they told Bidwill there would be an open competition at QB they would never have gotten the job.
I actually think this staff is embracing Brissett based on his operation of the offense.
