I don't think he should be "nervous" but clearly no team viewed him as their primary plan at ILB.
Keep in mind he wasn’t a starter before arriving here or at least that’s what I remember.

The question on my mind was Gannon happy with his performance at that spot or does he feel there was a need to upgrade thus the moves he made.

This is a good question

We would have to think that MO and JG are constantly trying to improve the roster quality

Maybe they want a look at the rookie before thinking about bringing him back

Rookie camp starts this weekend I believe

I believe that they are.

But after 3 years of this regime, I think we can also conclude that ILB is the least prioritized position in their mind and JG's scheme. All positions had high draft picks or a significant FA signing / attempt of signing.

I just do not think MO & JC value the position enough to invest heavily in it. As I stated a couple of times... Arguebly the easiest position to find a "good enough" starter in league.

Too early for White to get nervous. As camps open for spring practice, injuries will follow.

He should be nervous. There's still C.J Mosley, Ja'whaun Bentley, Eric Kendricks, Shaq Thompson, Nick Vigil and others on the market.

He's far from the first call should anyone get hurt.

Comparing Kyzir to Nick Vigil is nasty work. I still remember Vigil's week 1 start in 2022.

Now you're just being ridiculous. He's not THAT bad.

and you know this how?

Mike Clay lists his FA's in order of talent when he puts together his big FA lists. Kyzir White is 6th behind Bentley, Kendricks, Thompson, Mosley and Devondre Campbell. Although Campbell might be done.

Spotrac does the same and has him behind Mosley and Bentley.

Also, I have eyes. He's not BAD, he's just a guy. Lots of him around.

If he's waiting for someone to get hurt he's going to be waiting a while unless that someone is us.

Wow. Talk about a super mature very intelligent kid. One thing is for sure, he will definitely fit right in culture wise. If he is on the field I wouldn't have any concerns with him calling a defense. Now we just need to see if he can play in the NFL.

He is and a great guy. He mentioned the Laurainitis effect on him. James was only his coach this past year. Maybe, hopefully, that turned the switch on, and he'll become a very good player.
We burned a couple of first round picks on linebackers (Thx Steve). Wouldn't it be ironic if a 4th rounder was better than both?

It's a possibility. Until a few years ago, I thought you could just slide any backer into the Mike role and their athleticism would carry them, but that idea is patently false.

OLB has a lot less gap responsibilities, so many are destined to struggle with the transition. It's better to take a guy later in the draft and develop him over a couple of seasons.

When I was running mock draft simulations, I kept taking a LB because the Cardinals needed a young guy to develop and Simon is a nice low risk gamble. Smart teams make these gambles all of the time and it can really pay off.

expected more from simon in camp and preseason - when i watched the broncos game it appeared he was trying to do too much - on the run we saw a lb running straight into traffic getting blocked as the back ran right by multiple occasions - instead of letting the game come to him he was trying to diagnose the play and get tackles for loss instead of taking up space and not letting anyone pass

not much better on pass - we saw simon burst to the receiver to get into coverage but then we saw those receivers cut and that was about it - worse than pappoe - simon was always a step behind - even when simon was in there with another backer he played the position like he was alone leaving gaps in our coverage

idk but i don't want to see pappoe in the final preseason - i want to see how simon digested all this new found information - if this reality check was beneficial or a set back

He didn't have a good game. It happens. I still think he is ahead of Walker and Pappoe.

I have now watched the game. I literally cannot think of anyone who played better in Denver than they did against KC. Probably Mustipher if I had to pick one. Especially bad in the secondary. Burke and Crawford made a few good plays but overall the secondary was a cavalcade of screw ups. The line and LBs were soft and making bad guesses. The offensive line? BAD. WRs -- not good either. RBs -- line was so bad they mostly had no chance. TEs -- probably the best unit on the team overall.

So tap the brakes a little on the party planning for an undefeated season? Got it!

adjusting to nfl speed - playing a complex decision making position - i get it but his instincts were pretty bad
Some of it is second guessing your instincts and then some is adjusting to the difference in the NFL. Getting depth on pass drops is always an adjustment. Trusting your eyes and reacting is another adjustment. Lots of things are done in the NFL to confuse ILBs so I think bad instincts can sometimes be overthinking or not trusting yourself. Just my opinion.
