ILB is perhaps the hardest defensive spot to make an impact as a rookie in today’s NFL. This has been a real shift from 15 years ago, when it was the easiest.
Always tough to designate the "hardest" positions, but I do agree that it is significantly more difficult than it used to be.

Just look at how long it even takes top prospects at the position to break out in comparison to other positions.

It used to be you could depend on an ILB to win DROY because they’d get tons of PT and rack up counting stats. I think today off-ball linebacker and IDL are the defensive positions where top prospects need to a ton of time and reps to maximize their potential.

Overall, I am a little worried. During the Denver game he always seemed a step behind. Is that because he isn't processing the game quickly enough and can't react as effectively or is he a little slow for in ILB? If the play got outside of the tackles, White had problems getting there too. That is what I see in Simon too at a much cheaper cost none the less. Let's hope we see more of him during the Raiders game.
