The Suns are ranked second among the worst roster mistakes since 2020 by Zach Kram of ESPN.

Thank goodness for the Mavericks providing competition because I think the Suns deserve the number 1 spot by a mile.

See link below:

The total cost for Durant and Beal, counting the extra picks that Brooklyn and Washington landed when they rerouted Bridges, Johnson and Paul, was 12 first-round picks and six swaps, plus by far the most expensive roster in the NBA and extraordinary punishments wrought by the second apron.

And the reward for all of that aggressive spending? A second-round playoff loss in Durant's first season, a first-round sweep in his second (Beal's first) and an 11th-place finish in the West last season.

The Suns apparently have shown some interest in point guard Jared Butler.

Brogdon has fallen off a cliff and has been injured more than half the time the last two seasons. Plus, he's 32 years old. I'm not too excited about him at this point.

If he's cheap and on a year or two deal, he'd be a decent backup with size. We need a backup who plays both sides of the ball and can slide over to SG also and I think Brogdan could do that. I'm not exactly on the "sign him now" train but I can see the value in it. We can certainly do worse.

Sure, if he can get on the court. We just went through a couple seasons with Beal playing half the time.

giddey > butler
Ok, one is FA and one costs you a big contract and trade assets.

We are not going to trade for Giddey - you guys need to get that out of your head, Suns management wants to try Book and Green together - they aren't PG obsessed like you all.

Good move. I don't think he was given a fair shot with us before. As a 3rd Point guard this is a good get. Shot 38% from 3 last year which was a nice improvement.
He obviously never had the ball in his hands in LA with Luka, LeBron, and Reaves, but he had pretty good numbers in his half season with Memphis after the Suns traded him the prior season. 10 points, 4.5 assists, and 8 rebounds in 29 minutes. That must've been when Ja Morant was out as he started 12 of 17 games. I like the waiver claim. Not bad for $2.4 million.

Agreed on Giddey. It's not happening.

Looking up Goodwin's splits from last year and he had a good March. What's strange is how he seemingly was twice as productive offensively on Mondays vs any other day. I haven't seen that sort of discrepancy before.

That jumped out at me. Probably nothing much to it but examining it over his career his points don't stand out like last year but his shooting does. He's a Saturday, Sunday, Monday guy.

In regard to the Suns tax situation with the Goodwin signing.

I've started to watch the age of players as the Suns tendency seems to be getting younger.

Jordan Goodwin is age 26 and turns 27 October 23.

Hmm. Could the Suns still have interest in Jared Butler?

Gambo hints at it in the tweet below.

So that basically ensures another move will happen. I know waiving Goodwin should get them under the tax, depending on his guarantee date, but I doubt that happens. One of Royce, Grayson, or Richards will be moved. That's an easy number to manage as far as returning salary also, a small gap like that is negligible to most teams.

I am not saying I want oso playing point. I want book playing point.

I think Simmons absolutely sucks. If he can’t get playing time on a sorry nets team that really says it all.
I don’t think the nets wanted him on the floor for reasons other than his play.
