Is it me or does this look like a combination of Short Circuit, District 9 and Real Steel?

I think you mean District 9 and not the French parkour movie...

And yes. But I have no problem with that.

That's too bad. I liked District B13, D9 did nothing for me. Luc Besson!!!

Ooops. You are right. The funny thing is my son just watched the trailer and he joked is that movie about Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots?

LOL.

We both want to see this.

In a van...down by the river.

+1
Right up there with "K-Pax" which is a shame because it was a good movie.
Rarely does a films title hurt a movies success, but K-PAX would have done much better at the box office with a more "accessible" title IMO.

Chappie probably will miss out on a chunk of audience because it sounds a little silly(is the movie silly?).

Of course for those of us familiar with Blomkamp's previous work the title won't matter. We'll get over it and watch...not sure about the mainstream audience though.

I'll be going to see it. Might not be too far off from these being developed in our real lives

How old is your youngest now? Was this deserving of an R-rating or was it pretty tame?

A very cool movie. It was extremely ambitious, and though it didn't hit all its marks, it was good. I had a little problem with the uncanny valley for a while, but it wasn't that bad. Well worth the price of admission.
