Local Roundup: Crawford's 11 strikeouts lead Cambridge to shutout win

ROCKY GROVE — Cambridge Springs junior Kayla Crawford tossed 11 strikeouts in a 5-0 shutout win over Rocky Grove on Thursday.

Quinn Eaglen and Morgan Dunton each had two hits. Angela Hassinger and Jaydan Simmons each doubled for the Blue Devils.

Cambridge Springs is 9-1 overall and 5-1 in Region 2 action. The Blue Devils are scheduled to play at Lakeview on Saturday.

Oilers rally past Eagles

OIL CITY — The Conneaut baseball team lost to Oil City 4-3 in a non-region tilt on Thursday at Oil City High School.

Conneaut led 3-0 after the second inning. Oil City scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth and kept the Eagles off the scoreboard in the top of the seventh.

Conneaut's Chase Stewart was 2-for-3 to pace the Eagles offensively.

The Eagles are 4-8. Conneaut is slated to host Northwestern on Monday.

ROCKY GROVE — Saegertown defeated Rocky Grove 10-6 in a Region 3 baseball contest on Wednesday.

Blake Burchill had three RBIs, Blake Leslie had two doubles and DeMarcus Manning was 2-for-4 with three runs.

On the bump, Levi Gardner struck out four and allowed one earned run. Everett Gardner and DeMarcus Manning allowed four hits and one earned run in relief.

Saegertown is 8-0 in region play and 10-1 overall. The Panthers are scheduled to play at North East today in a non-region game.
