Todd Bowles has to be a 100% lock for a head coaching job either this year or next. Given this, do you think Bruce Arians has a staffer in place in the back of his mind to take over ? I certainly hope the linebackers coach or dline coach is paying attention to Bowles masterful coaching right now!

We can hope...HOPE...that the sucky teams that fire their HC's do so because of anemic offenses. Then maybe they DQ any DC's from their search.

Fingers crossed.

My doomsday scenario:

Harbaugh and the Niners split.

SF steals Bowles to get that defense back on track and make us weaker in the process.

My concern as well. That someone in the division gets him. Same could be said of Fisher. I swear Fisher gets the longest head coaching leashes.

I can see them going with David Shaw. Gets the good elements of Harbaugh/Stanford system with a guy who is local and isn't named Harbaugh. I bet Harbaugh ends up in Oakland.

Don't say that. Don't ever say that again. :mulli:

Shaw could be their top choice but also under strong consideration would be their OC Greg Roman.

I was hoping the cardinals could treat him like Dick Lebeau and set him up with a nice hefty contract, maybe a little more power on who his asst coaches are under. Something like that? I'd really like to keep this staff together for the long haul, then we can start to draft according to the scheme year in and year out to better fortify the defense.

The sky isnt falling, its ok. He was supposed to be good as gone last year. If he does leave after this year, someone will replace him. We have tons of talent and talented coaches. we will be fine.

On sports radio they said that Michigan is not a good job for Harbaugh (or anyone for that matter) and that it was even doubtful whether he'd go back to college coaching. All I know that it's very hard to figure out Jim Harbaugh.

Yeah, next coach up, I like that. I especially like it because our group of coaches have been around the block and they know just about everybody. If they decide we need to go outside, they'll know right where to go IMO.

In a recent interview he said he is happy here and he did by no means seem overly desiring a head coaching job and went into why being a head coach is a totally different job than his current position :)

It is a different job, it's nice to hear someone in the biz acknowledging it. I know the money is a huge temptation but a man's got to know his limitations.

You just made me think: the only thing virtually everyone on this forum agreed on is that Clancy Pendergast sucked ass.

My mind naturally made that connection when you mentioned colostomy bags.
