After a forgettable Thursday night, the Yankees face another lefty on Friday night at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox’s 6-foot-6, 250-pound starter Payton Tolle (3-5, 3.08) is scheduled to oppose right-hander Will Warren (7-2, 3.45) in the second game of a four-game set.

In Thursday’s series opener, the Yankees committed a season-high four errors in a 6-3 loss to the last-place Red Sox.

You’d have to go back to July 21, 1913, to find the last time a Yankees team that permitted six unearned runs – in a game at Detroit.

Meanwhile at Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Carlos Lagrange’s transition from starter to reliever moved into a new phase.

On three days rest, Lagrange picked up his first save, tossing 1.1 innings and lowering his ERA to 1.98 in six relief outings since his June 3 bullpen assignment.

The 6-foot-7 Lagrange, 23, yielded one hit, one walk, hit a batter and worked out of a first-and-second, none out jam in the ninth.

According to MLB.com, Lagrange’s fastball reached 101.5-mph. He’s registered 19 strikeouts (vs. six walks) in 13.2 innings as a reliever.

Lagrange could be in play for the Yankees’ bullpen sometime after the All-Star break, and the Yanks also be seeking further upgrades by the Aug. 3 MLB trade deadline.

Before tonight's game, the Yankees activated catcher Ali Sanchez from the paternity list and optioned lefty-hitting catcher J.C. Escarra back to Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Of note tonight, Spencer Jones is getting a start against a lefty and Amed Rosario is at DH, with Jose Caballero at third base and moved ahead of Anthony Volpe in the order.

Here is the Yankees' Friday night lineup:

  1. Paul Goldschmidt, 1B
  2. Amed Rosario, DH
  3. Cody Bellinger, LF
  4. Jasson Dominguez, RF
  5. Jose Caballero, 3B
  6. Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B
  7. Anthony Volpe, SS
  8. Spencer Jones, CF
  9. Ali Sanchez, C
