Signing Malik Willis is writing off the season.

There is absolutely nothing in evidence that says otherwise.
And rolling with Brissett isn't? We have first hand evidence of his play here...

I don't get the desire to add Cousins.

He'll be 38 and in 2025 - well removed from his Achilles injury - with 8 starts he completed 61% of his passes at 6.4 yards per attempt with 10 TDs and 5 INTs for an 84.8 passer rating. He added 7 (!) rushing yards and a TD.

Brissett will be 34 and in 2025 with 12 starts he completed 65% of his passes at 6.9 yards per attempt with 23 TDs and 8 INTs for a 94.1 passer rating. He added 168 rushing yards and a TD.

The only pro-Cousins arguments I can muster are that he has experience in a Shanahan system (but Brissett's been in similar systems in Cleveland and New England) and that Brissett's stats last year reflected lots of "garbage time". On the other hand, Brissett is already familiar with the Cardinals' receivers and clearly has rapport with McBride and Wilson. Plus he's already under contract for cheap and would make a great mentor for a young QB.
I get it. But I think Cousins sets the floor at six wins and Brissett went 1-11 last season.

I have little doubt that Cousins can get more out of this receiving corps; I have a lot of doubt that the New England and Cleveland systems are similar to the McVay/Shanahan system.

Does Rodgers seem like the kind of person that would think himself beneath the defenses in this division? And the Ravens and Browns defense are hardly picnics. I don't see Rodgers ever saying "Nah, I'm not going there those defenses are too good for me".

At the end of the day his options are limited. The Jets are obviously not a destination. I don't see him going to the Vikings after being so long at the Packers, neither for himself or for the Vikings fans. His options are Browns, Dolphins and Cardinals, all of which are odds on for losing seasons, and Cards have an OC he apparently loves.

Its not really about what he thinks HIS abilities against these defenses are. All he has to do is go watch some film of our OL, and he'll realize he'll go from 42 to 52 years old in one season behind them.

There is no QB available in 2026 that will get us out of 4th in the NFC west with our current talent
I'll agree...but that's why they have off season FA and the draft so we should have better talent next season...said a lightsider :)

Lightsider vs Darksider...this could knock Long John Silver's out of the top spot of discussion LOL

Steelers O line has generally been trash, that didn't put him off.

And as I said, his realistic options are Cards, Fins or Browns.

I don't know how much faith you can put in Brissett's stats given we were playing from behind a lot and without a decent running game.

Perhaps I missed it, has he been taken off the board for re-signing with the Steelers? That to me seems the most realistic option. I, for the life of me, cant see him playing for any of those three organizations. I guess we'll see.

The quickest way to get out of the basement is with an elite QB. Not available right now

Build the trenches. Then get the Qb

Rodgers wants to feel wanted, an wants people around him that he likes. In those respects, AZ is an option. Also I think the indoor stadiums and divisional weather are probably more appealing. I would prefer Cousins over him, but he gets the ball out of his hands fast, and he pairs well with timing and rhythm guys like MHJ and Wilson and McBride. Rodgers doesn't really hold onto the ball anymore to push it deep but the Cardinals also don't really have a guy they want to do that with.

All that said, I have no clue what goes on in Rodgers head so...
