I don't think the Cards aren't an option for Rodgers.

There are a lot of ways that it makes sense for a year. I'm sure there are people here with a visceral dislike for him, but from a purely QB perspective in a dead QB market it's one of the better options.
with all the youth on our offensive roster, just the injection of veteran experience can help the team learn to be better.

To some degree we saw that with Brissett. You could see how unusual Mike found it that JB was emailing him and calling him saying "Look at this. This guy likes to bite on the dig so when he does that, you do this". Which is really what you expect from a QB and an indictment of Kyler that he clearly never did that.

Rodgers can get the most out of some of these guys, or at least teach them something they can keep going forward in what is going to be a dead year in terms of competing.

Besides the fact that Rodgers "had" a pretty good career, I'm a little on the fence if Rodgers is an upgrade over JB. But thankfully someone will let me know...;)

Disregard, didn't see the BritCard and oaken1 posts, my bad

Makes sense for us, who lack a QB

Makes little sense for Rodgers, who probably doesn’t want to end his career going 6-11 in the desert while getting pummeled by the leagues #1, #12, and #13 defenses.

Do they have to win? Or what?
Exactly. Ossenfort doesn't have the time to gamble on 2027 being a good season. Willis might get him fired anyway, but he certainly have the biggest boom-potential of all available quarterbacks (not named Ty Simpson and barring a trade).

Let me start with purely hypothetically speaking:

We saw last year JB had great connections fairly quickly with McBride, Wilson and to a lesser degree MHJ until he got injured.
Do you believe IF Rodgers were to come to the cards, he could develop the same chemistry as quickly with the receivers?

If the Cards win six games next season it’ll be enough to save Monti’s job because they would have doubled their win total.

Depends on what his price tag is. The Raiders were a mess last year. If MLF thinks he can win with him I’m not gonna argue, but I won’t be mad if he gets away.

He’s below Cousins but above Wills on my priority free agent list.

I uused to be an ARod fan...but im kinda in the phookthatguy category now...makes perfect sense we would get him at...now... but I wouldnt hate it. Boom Boom McBride would help aaron retain a moment of greatness...and the dude would surely cause Marv to finally be all he can be....
we could get 4 or 5 amazing games that would stoke our fandom to an all time frenzy....then the injury would come and we finish the season lamenting what could have been as we watch Nussmeier adapt to the NFL and finish with a 4/8 rookie record..ending our season at 9/8, last yet again in the NFCBest ...then Rodgers retires at a press conference set in front of a peyote yurt in Sedona,....and we enter 2027 with some hope that another LSU player achieves near greatness in Arizona.....causing us to bypass the 27 QB class, with the exception of a late round pick we spend on Fresno Quarterback E.J. Warner....a legacy that unfortunately has an early career that mirrors his fathers as he fails to make the roster, until in 2030 when he makes the roster of the Kansas City chefs as a backup to Patrick Mahomes....
5-12 with'em, 5-12 without'em...
One thing about AR he will hold his receivers and Oline accountable for missing blocks or running the wrong routes

Bring some discipline to the room

Does Rodgers seem like the kind of person that would think himself beneath the defenses in this division? And the Ravens and Browns defense are hardly picnics. I don't see Rodgers ever saying "Nah, I'm not going there those defenses are too good for me".

At the end of the day his options are limited. The Jets are obviously not a destination. I don't see him going to the Vikings after being so long at the Packers, neither for himself or for the Vikings fans. His options are Browns, Dolphins and Cardinals, all of which are odds on for losing seasons, and Cards have an OC he apparently loves.

Yeah I think so. Rodgers is the kind of QB that will take the offense away in the offseason to get on the same page.

I'm not advocating for him, I'm fine to stick with JB, but I'd say it's a very viable option the FO will consider.

I don't get the desire to add Cousins.

He'll be 38 and in 2025 - well removed from his Achilles injury - with 8 starts he completed 61% of his passes at 6.4 yards per attempt with 10 TDs and 5 INTs for an 84.8 passer rating. He added 7 (!) rushing yards and a TD.

Brissett will be 34 and in 2025 with 12 starts he completed 65% of his passes at 6.9 yards per attempt with 23 TDs and 8 INTs for a 94.1 passer rating. He added 168 rushing yards and a TD.

The only pro-Cousins arguments I can muster are that he has experience in a Shanahan system (but Brissett's been in similar systems in Cleveland and New England) and that Brissett's stats last year reflected lots of "garbage time". On the other hand, Brissett is already familiar with the Cardinals' receivers and clearly has rapport with McBride and Wilson. Plus he's already under contract for cheap and would make a great mentor for a young QB.

Point is they don’t HAVE to win. We’ll be back in 27 even if they go 1-16.
That would be a mistake thinking this way.

It would be another example of not being able to do what other franchises have done in a single season to turn around their franchise. Getting tired of watching the same old mistakes being made and knowing that failure is expected.

There's no need to make this complicated.

There's nobody out there that is the future for this Org. Maybe they draft someone later to develop but they won't start.

Roll with Brissett. MLF said he wants a guy that can stand in the pocket and read defenses, well JB can do that. With an improved scheme, players back and hopefully an improved defense JB will do as well as anyone else we bring in, and if not, well we want good draft position for next year.
Give me Malik over Brissett all day and twice on Sunday.

Thanks for the input. I just read an article today that's "projecting" that Rodgers will either stay with the steelers or retire.

Here's an interesting tidbit from The Athletic's Mock Draft 1.0 today:
The Cardinals had brief discussions* with the Raiders on a package that would include quarterback Kyler Murray and the No. 3 pick for the chance to draft Mendoza. (*By “brief,” we mean we could hear laughter coming through our Slack channel.)
