Willis would be a good choice but very expensive. All the eggs in one basket

I’ll grant he’s had limited playing time. Still his career QB rating is 98.9. His completion % is 68. His TD to interception rate is 2 to 1. He’s raw, but he’s a double threat QB. If he’ll sign for 2 years that’s better than the 4 year draft commitment. It all depends on how much he can get from the open market. If the money’s right, I’m in.
Help me out. What is the difference in cost for Willis and a 1st round qb?

Training camps. The knowledge gained in those is extremely valuable. Simply learning the NFL game day routine is useful. Finally those starting butterflies should be calmer. Finally the understanding of NFL game speed is helpful. I think all that adds up to a substantial edge. I also think there’s a more proven skill edge. It’s not gigantic, but worth considering. Finally the draft choice bonus number will likely be near $30 million.

Probably not a popular opinion but the Cards draft 5th right now so unless a QB they really like is there I would not draft a QB. Instead I would start building the trenches and draft the best Oline available along with trying to improve it with FA. No QB they get either in FA or draft is going to have success behind the current line. Look at the successful teams. They usually have a decent oline.

Let’s assume 2 things.
Brissett is nothing but our 2nd string.
Kyler is being moved.

So now what? I know there’s talk about trading up. Trading down. Praying one of the 3 top qb’s slip to us. But what if they don’t? Take a chance on a second round qb?

So play GM. What’s your options? Im ruling out trading up. We have too many holes. I don’t think a qb in the second round really helps us compete in 2026. Those first two picks will fill 2 holes
( theoretically).I think all this chatter about Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow not real options.
I’m ruling out Russell Wilson, Arron Rodgers and Joe Flacco.

I desire a guy with some running ability.
Kenny Picket? Nah.
Mac Jones. Nope not giving up picks to the 49ers.
Zach Wilson? Nope.

How about Malik Willis? He’s got some time learning on the bench. Could Green Bay’s OC Alex Stenavich be a head coach candidate?
Okay resume

If neither HC or GM is fired, it is a lock they bring in another vet QB to compete with Brissett. That wouldn't prohibit them from also drafting a QB, but they are not going to roll forward into TC with just Brissett and a rookie IMO. It will look very similar to what the Giants did this year IMO.

Russ, Brissett, and rookie 3rd rounder. Who’s against this??
