You had a good thing going until you went off the road there with Bennett. Way too many demons and not enough skills for any draft consideration and fragile (5'11", 190lb - on a good day). Why not get crazy and get Jimmy G or Mariota for a much lower price than Willis (it will be way too high) with likely the same result. We all would be happy with overall improvement this year knowing the playoffs are a year or two away. Not sure I see Willis processing defenses very well either. Heck, JB did a great job last year with practice squad guys around him. We don't need to trade Brisket to anyone for some crappy late round pick - guy can sling it. Ride that guy for '26 which we all know is a gap year and keep him in there until your prize pony from the '27 draft is ready to roll. Don't overthink it.
Comparing Mariota or Jimmy G to Willis is really [insert bad adjective]. Not even remotely close.

Yeah, trading Jacoby for a 6th round pick is asinine. He is a bridge or solid backup at a reasonable cost. Makes absolutely no sense to trade him. He already has some chemistry with our receivers and with his experience would be a good mentor to anyone who is drafted.

Are you really comparing Mendoza to Peyton Manning? That's awfully bold. Imagine giving up 2 firsts and 2 seconds for say, Alex Smith.
It will cost much more than that for the raiders to trade that pick.

It would probably have to start with 3-#1s. And two seconds. IMO

I still doubt they would pass on the opportunity to get a franchise QB.

I dunno. It’s pretty standard in today’s NFL for a backup qb who is familiar with the new system to be brought in to help install the offense. Jimmy Garapolo is a weirdo douche who can’t take a hit so I skipped to the 3rd stringer for the Rams.

Sure, but that's more because of scarcity, not because Mendoza is on the level of Peyton Manning coming out.

I don't see the Raiders moving from that pick no matter what the offer is, but it's because they have no other choices.

Jimmy Garoppolo will be the week one starter.

However, if I had to make a wild guess, I would buy C.J. Stroud for the #3 pick and Kyler Murray, and I think I can make an okay case for it.

- Stroud is up for an extension this offseason, but has he really played well enough to warrant a giant contract? If sold, I think it would be fair for a new team to wait a year or two.

- The Texans’ head coach (Demeco Ryans), and offensive coordinator (Nick Haley) have played against Murray multiple times, and their defensive coordinator (Matt Burke) has seen Murray at practice and weekdays for a year. Those things can also work against Murray, though.

- Kyler Murray is a major star in that area of Texas. Absolute legend.

- If Bidwill spoke the truth that Gannon was only fired because of wins and losses, then Ossenfort is under heavy pressure to win now.

- Ossenfort cannot get a quality QB in other ways than a bigtime trade. And he cannot win enough without a quality QB.

- If the Cards finish high enough to pick a rookie quarterback in 2024, Ossenfort’s gone.

- Marvin Harrison was a stud the year he played with Stroud.

Again, I don’t think it will happen, but I do think that Ossenfort needs to think about making some big move.

Agree that Monti needs to make a splash move. The look on his face is all you need to see. The man is definitely stressed. But, that splash move is not Garoppolo. That dude is washed & his body won’t allow him to play 4 games. As a Murray fan, I would love to see him in Houston.

I'd love Stroud, but I don't see them moving on from him for Kyler. The fact of the matter is that even though Stroud is technically up for an extension, they can say "we just don't see it in you yet," and Stroud's camp is probably going to have to accept he didn't play well enough last season to really put the pressure on for a new contract right now. Plus they have the 5th year option for relative cost control.

Why hamstring themselves financially when they have a good contract to function under for the next two years? It's not like Kyler's a sure upgrade.

Posted that a long time ago. Unless ML gives him a bad review of Willis, the Cards will go hard and likely get him if they want him.
did u see where spotrac says he could get 35 per?

Reminds me of the girl wth the curl. When he’s good, he’s good, but when he’s bad he’s awful. Too much like a somewhat better version of Murray. No poise!

I’d be after Willis. That kid can play. Gonna make a splash someplace.
the contract matters a lot here in terms of "is this a good move"

two of the rumored teams are the Cards and Dolphins -- both coming off the pain of a bad QB contract.

Add the dynamic of a deep QB class coming in 2027, and I am curious how much either would stretch to get him.

$35 million is too much. $50 million over two years is my ceiling. $35 million is more than Darnold and Mayfield.
