Wisconsin basketball delivered a statement victory at the Kohl Center on Sunday, defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes 84-71.
The game was closely contested for the first 34 minutes, with Iowa leading by one point at halftime and Wisconsin holding a narrow advantage for much of the second half. The Badgers would pull away late, with a decisive 16-6 scoring run with under seven minutes remaining. Nick Boyd, one of the leaders of that decisive stretch, delivered arguably his best game as a Badger, finishing with 27 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. Starters John Blackwell and Nolan Winter each also tallied double-figure points, while bench forward Austin Rapp delivered an impressive 14 tallies on 5-of-7 shooting and 4-of-5 from 3.
Wisconsin improves to 19-8 (11-5 Big Ten) with the victory. The result notably reestablishes the team's red-hot momentum, which was recently halted by a disappointing loss to Ohio State last week. The win also pushes the Badgers' record against Quad 1 opponents to 5-7, further bolstering their NCAA Tournament resume.
