Amare then tore up Tim Duncan and the spurs, but the suns still lost in 5 games......as they were outscored by the spurs.

Yes, usually when a team loses, it's because they were outscored.

Now how much more can you ask from an offense?

The Suns' offense is better now than it was two years ago. Their defense should be much better. Whether it will or not remains to be seen.

That suns team had it all.

Except (a) more than six healthy players, (b) experience, and (c) a big man capable of playing solid interior defense.

Teams like dallas are going to try to slow the game way down and play halfcourt.

Ya think?

If those teams can defend the pick and roll.....that's when the suns live and die with jump shots.

Or Stoudemire on the block, or Barbosa's penetration. But given that the pick and roll with Nash and Whoever is the best since Stockton and Malone -- if not better -- defending it isn't quite so easy as posting a few lines of text on a message board.

Stockton -Malone went to the finals with scrubs like Byron Russel and lost in 6 to MJ, who scored following an arm pushoff of Russel to win (the last?) game. That's a time when Sonics had Payton, Kemp, and Schrempt at their prime.

I'm sorry for dumbing it down. I was just trying to point out that as good as that suns team was offensively, SA was better at both ends.......which is why the D word comes up so often these days. It's not clear to me yet that this suns team is necessarily better. It looks very simular if you ask me, but still they can beat anyone. defending the pick and roll isn't easy against the suns by no means....nor barbosa or nash penetrating the lane. But if you can try and take away the transition points.....and at least put some limits on the pick and roll. Maybe then you can beat the suns.
