With 59% of the total vote share, Roy C. Ketcham baseball's Shane Finnigan won the Poughkeepsie Journal Boys Athlete of the Week poll for May 4-10.


The Poughkeepsie Journal Boys Athlete of the Week for May 11-17 is now live.

Nominations are based on information gathered and received by the Poughkeepsie Journal throughout the week. For consideration, coaches are asked to submit game information and player stats to [email protected] before the end of the week.

Each week's winner will be selected and posted in the upcoming week's poll. Polls will close at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night before the announcement the following morning.

Nate Johnson, John Jay track & field​


Johnson won the Pentathlon at the Section 1 Northern Counties Championship over the weekend, placing first in the 110-meter hurdles, high jump, long jump and shot put. He placed third in the 1500-meter run.

Aiden Sickler, Spackenkill baseball​


Sickler finished the week with five hits, a home run, a double, nine RBIs and three runs.

Logan Davis, Highland lacrosse​


Davis finished the week with seven goals and three assists in just two games.

Giancarlo Reilly, New Paltz baseball​


Reilly smacked five hits, a double, four runs scored and two RBIs in the week.

Austin Seipp, John Jay baseball​


Seipp tallied five hits, a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored in two games this week.

Brennan Paul, FDR baseball​


Paul tallied five hits, three RBIs and three runs scored for the Presidents in the week.

James Krauza, Lourdes lacrosse​


Krauza finished with a team-high five goals in a 12-11 OT victory over O'Neill.
