With 43% of the total vote share, Arlington flag football's Jamie Gemmel won the Poughkeepsie Journal Girls Athlete of the Week poll for May 4-10.


The Poughkeepsie Journal Girls Athlete of the Week for May 11-17 is now live.

Nominations are based on information gathered and received by the Poughkeepsie Journal throughout the week. For consideration, coaches are asked to submit game information and player stats to [email protected] before the end of the week.

Each week's winner will be selected and posted in the upcoming week's poll. Polls will close at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night before the announcement the following morning.

Paytyn Dee, Roy C. Ketcham softball​


Dee smacked six hits, a home run, a double, six RBIs and two runs scored in the week.

Ember Fallon, Arlington softball​


The outfielder went 3-for-3 with two home runs, seven RBIs and three runs in a 14-0 victory over Scarsdale. She also made a clutch diving catch out in center field during the seventh inning of the Admirals' 4-3 win over Ketcham.

Adriana Alessandro, Spackenkill softball​


Alessandro recorded five hits, two doubles, five RBIs and two runs scored in the week.

Sami Thomas, Haldane girls lacrosse​


Thomas finished the week with 12 goals and two assists.

Angela Schwer, John Jay track & field​


Schwer completely swept the pentathlon at the Section 1 Northern Counties Championships, winning all of the long jump, high jump, shot put, 100-meter hurdles and 800-meter run.

Molly Pool, Arlington track & field​


Pool won both the 3000-meter run (11:15.37) and the 2000-meter steeplechase (7:18.14) at the Section 1 Northern Counties Championships.

Ava Feliciotto, Wappingers girls lacrosse​


Feliciotto tallied 11 goals and five assists throughout the week.

Grace Fury, John Jay softball​


Fury recorded 10 hits, seven RBIs, a home run, a double and four runs scored throughout the week.

Emery Munger, Red Hook softball​


Munger finished the week with nine hits, six runs scored, three RBIs and a triple.

Addy Farinaccio, Pine Plains softball​


Farinaccio recorded four hits, three runs and an RBI in two games on Saturday to help bring Pine Plains a MHAL championship.
