With 45% of the total vote share, Lourdes lacrosse's James Krauza won the Poughkeepsie Journal Boys Athlete of the Week poll for May 11-17.


The Poughkeepsie Journal Boys Athlete of the Week for May 11-17 is now live.

Nominations are based on information gathered and received by the Poughkeepsie Journal throughout the week. For consideration, coaches are asked to submit game information and player stats to [email protected] before the end of the week.

Each week's winner will be selected and posted in the upcoming week's poll. Polls will close at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night before the announcement the following morning.

Ben Yager, Highland lacrosse​


Yager finished with four goals and an assist in Highland's 13-11 victory over Saugerties.

Austin Mielich, Pine Plains baseball​


Mielich went 4-for-7 with two RBIs and two runs scored. He also tossed a complete game two-hitter in a 2-1 victory over FDR.

Robert Paschal, Red Hook baseball​


Paschal went 3-for-5, nearly going for the cycle with a single, double and triple as well as 6 RBIs and two runs scored in Red Hook's 16-4 victory over Dover.

Liam Correa, Marlboro baseball​


Correa smacked two doubles, a home run and drove in two runners in a 7-6 victory over Washingtonville.

Makai Broughton, Marlboro track & field​


Broughton placed first in both the 100-meter dash (11.20) and the 200-meter dash (22.59) at the MHAL Championships at Rondout Valley High School.

Daniel McPherson, Pine Plains track & field​


McPherson placed first in both the 3200-meter run (9:29.51) and the 300-meter (10:05.75) at the MHAL Championships at Rondout Valley High School.

Jesse Apostolou, Beacon baseball​


Apostolous tallied five hits, four RBIs and three runs scored over two games this week.

Sean Hinspeter, Lourdes baseball​


Hinspeter went 2-for-3 with four RBIs in Lourdes' 11-2 victory over Washingtonville.
