Primary rule for contracts - you NEVER pay a man for what he’s done, but for what you expect him to do. Do NOT pay for past performance. That’s a sure way to sink your franchise.
What do you think he is going to do? Do you think he is/will be a top 5 RB? If so, PTM.

Absolutely. And there is no reason to think DJ, who is just entering his prime, won't be dominate for many seasons to come.

Some of the repetitive self-righteousness being displayed in here about an event that is a normal occurrence in this League that doesn't involve said self-righteous people's money is just a tad irritating.

You made your point. I understood it. I also understand the other side. Go apply to be the GM if it is *that* important that someone acknowledge that your view, and your view alone is the correct one.

There's plenty of reason to think this. It's been articulated in this thread already. You can deny it, or refuse to accept it, but the facts are what they are.

Fumblitis? Where is this coming from?

He lost 3 fumbles in 2016 and only one in 2015. You are freaking out over 4 fumbles lost?
Fumbles lost? Because he or a teammate recovered his drop, they don't count? 11 fumbles in 2 seasons plus one game is a cause for concern. Didn't a fumble by DJ on a kick return basically lose us a game his rookie year?

Look at the top RBs from the 2015 draft class:

David Johnson 10 fumbles 4 lost
Melvin Gordon 9 fumbles 6 lost
Todd Gurley 10 fumbles 4 lost

How many of those guys missed a season? Gurley has 10 fumbles in 914 touches (rushes + receptions). Gordon has 9 fumbles in 854 touches. David Johnson has 11 fumbles in 551 touches.

You're probably right. Nothing to be concerned about in a fumble rate basically double your comparison group.

Le'Veon Bell has 8 fumbles in over 1500 touches(!!!!). Zeke Elliot has 6 fumbles in 622 career touches.

In 2016:

DJ 5 fumbles
Bell 4 fumbles (suspended 4 games)
Elliot 5 fumbles

Cool story, bro. Your small sample size argument is certainly compelling. How many fumbles did Elliott have in his second season compared to DJ's? What about in 2017?

That was the same season and they all had similar touches except for Bell who missed 4 games. Sounds pretty comparable to me.

Look at Marshall Faulk's first 3 years:

15 Fumbles 10 lost

Elliott had 1 fumble in his second season. DJ had 2 fumbles in his last game, where he played 3 quarters.

Le'Veon Bell had 3 fumbles last season.

So we are squabbling about a 1 to 2 fumble difference per year as Fumblitis.

Gripping at a guy because he fumbled the ball 1.9% of his carries? And lost fumbles accounting for 1% of carries? LOL.

Isn't this the game he played with a broken wrist? I wonder why he fumbled? SMH.
Hahahahaha and so it makes sense to dismiss his wrist??? You want to use his injured wrist to disown his fumbles but you refuse to acknowledge that same injury (which cost him an entire season) might not be concern for fumbles moving forward. Which side of your face are you talking out of next?
