A bridge too far. Price is too far and so is the compensation. Also keep in mind this seems like pass rush overkill.
How? Sweat is proven to be an 8-12 sack guy. Collins a 4-8 sack guy. Browning has never hit 6 sacks in a season. Burch is a rookie. Xavier Thomas is a cut candidate. Ojulari has shown nothing and isn't healthy.

This makes zero sense.

You can only put so much capital into one part of the team. I think they have an exceptional pass rush as is.

Ok, I'll play. What capital have they put into the EDGE position?

Sweat's contract. 100%. 19 mil per year.

A non-contributing 2nd round pick going into this 3rd season.

2 years, 7.5 per, in Baron Browning.

A 5th rounder in Xavier Thomas.

A 3rd rounder in Jordan Burch.

A two year, 14 mil extension to Zaven Collins.

In 2025, the Cardinals are 24th in EDGE spending at 23.15 mil per OTC.

In 2026, the Cardinals will have 32.2 mil allocated to the EDGE position which will put them 14th in the NFL. They have 28.7 mil allocated to S that same year.

The Cardinals have allocated as much dollars in EDGE as they have in Budda Baker, Jalen Thompson and Sean Murphy Bunting. They have allocated more draft capital at CB than they have at EDGE since Monti took over.

Your claim that they have in some way maxed their investment in the EDGE position is uninformed, and the idea that their pass rush, from the edge position, is "exceptional" is not based in fact.

I think Harry was referring to the fact that to trade for and Sign Hendrickson will cost somewhere near TJ Watt numbers. So you are looking at adding $40M plus a year for a 3 year deal totalling $120M+. With only $13M in cap space next season that makes signing Hendrickson very complicated and puts the team significantly behind the 8 ball cap wise heading into the 2026 season.

Numbers change a bit when you include DE with olb.

While I agree with Harry that on paper,...and knowing our scheme...our pass rush looks pretty solid.
But they have proven nothing on the field...
And the rush looked pretty solid 10 minutes after we drafted beej ojulari...we all saw how that's worked out.

rumors says young defensive starter + 1st rounder.

That is a no at that price for me.
That’s never gonna happen for a 31 year old wanting new $ jmo

LOL AI slop cmon bro
Actually that’s on me that showed college snap count numbers. Regardless. I’ll take the depth chart over your “guess” until proven otherwise. Last year literally means zilch based on new personnel. The whole line is drastically different.

Would be a desperate team to make that.

But this is just a complete mess by the Bengals.

He’s the one quality player on a horrible defense. The Bengals have a very small shot at a superbowl with this bad a defense. Without Hendrickson they have zero chance.

They are not willing to pay him marketprice, so they had two options. Let him play out his contract or trading him before FA and draft.

Now it’s lowballing him and trying to trade him 2 weeks before the season where compensation comes next year.

We will see. I looked for alignment charts from last year but couldn’t find any for free. I remember him lining up inside of the tackle box as much as outside of it but I could be wrong.
What does it matter?
Knowledgeable people knows that the team had zero pass rusher or DTs when DR finally stepped on the field. You cannot use that for anything given the change in situation.

Not to mention the staff is known to move guys around based on scheme and matchups.
It was mentioned when DRob was drafted he would play both inside and out

I thought it was a fair response to my omission of DRob in edge assets. I didn't take it any other way.

To your point, I don't believe you can point to DRob as an example of a member of an "exceptional" pass rush at this time. I tend to be VERY optimistic in regards to DRob but he hasn't shown anything yet.

Check the tape, son.

Due to injuries and the Cardinals looking to generate a pass rush from anywhere possible late last season they moved Robinson around in an attempt to generate a pass rush. So while he did play edge a bunch in the few games he was out there, it was out of necessity. With the depth at Edge now I anticipate Robinson playing inside more. At the training camp practice that I attended he played with the ones as a DT along with Calais, and Tomlinson.
