MADISON, S.D. (KELO) — The inaugural ‘The Rock’ Legion baseball tournament wrapped up Sunday, honoring a fallen local law enforcement officer Ken Prorok in more ways than one.

Sunday’s semifinal and championship games did more than just crown a winner; they marked what would have been the Moody County Chief Deputy’s 54th birthday. Family and friends said the timing was a complete coincidence, but it made the tournament’s final day deeply meaningful.

“When Coach Hortness called and said, ‘Hey, we’d like to do this tournament in honor of Ken and bring law enforcement into it as well,’ I said, ‘Well, what weekend are you thinking?'” said Prorok’s wife, Renee. “And he said, ‘June 26th through the 28th,’ and I said, ‘That happens to be Ken’s birthday weekend.’ They didn’t know that.”

Madison would go on to clinch the championship win over Luverne, 3-2.
