SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Augustana baseball team advanced out of the Central Region of the NCAA Division II tournament over the weekend, moving on to the fourth super regional in program history.
The Vikings entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed after winning the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament the week prior. Augustana went on to win three consecutive elimination games, including two over the hosts, No. 3 Pittsburg State.
The Vikings will now travel to Warrensburg to face Central Missouri in a best-of-three series.
“I know what they do and how they do it and how we need to prepare for them,” head coach Tim Huber said. “Anybody that’s had a lot of success, like they have at the national level, is going to do things right and put a lot of pressure on you.”
First pitch is scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m.
