the rejection letter is interesting

given how litigious Sorsby has been, i would have thought it would have been "just the facts"

but it makes quite a few subjective kinds of assertions: Sorsby showing no remorse as an example.

Can a court order the NFL to have a draft? If not it doesn’t matter

Are we counting parlays as multiple bets? :fans:

I bet strictly on the NFL and for me it would be impossible.

This kid did this many bets in a couple years.

He's a degenerate addict for sure. Addicts can never be trusted especialy at QB.
Yeah, that's around 12 bets a day, every day for two years straight...that's a lot!!
Imagine the betting isn’t OK but you could beat your wife or your girlfriend no big deal. Don’t ever take morality lessons from professional sports athletes or anyone associated with it.
Who is this?? This is a positive morality lesson post....what have you done with 602??
Well said...;)

I get what you are saying but Ray Rice disagrees

They have even suspended players who were not arrested. The NFL takes domestic abuse seriously.

Examples of suspensions without arrests

  • Greg Hardy – Suspended for 10 games in 2014 after being accused of assaulting a woman in his home. The assault charges were later dropped during an appeal when the victim declined to testify. The NFL reduced his suspension to 4 games after an appeal Sportskeeda.
  • Adrian Peterson – Suspended for 6 games in 2014 after being indicted on felony child abuse charges (related to a separate incident). While he was arrested, the domestic violence case against him was not criminalized; the league’s action was based on the child abuse allegations Sportskeeda.
  • Ezekiel Elliott – Suspended in 2018 after an NFL investigation into domestic violence allegations that did not result in criminal charges Sporting News.
  • Tyreek Hill – Suspended in 2019 after an NFL investigation into domestic violence allegations that did not lead to criminal charges USA Today.

This is interesting analysis from a lawyer. It sounds like there's not much ground to sue on based on when Maurice Clarett sued the league to enter the draft early. It looks like the CBA is governed by NY in the 2nd circuit too which means they can't get the booster friendly judge again.

This is a fun thing from the tweet too: "Jeffrey Kessler — the gifted lawyer now fighting on Sorsby's behalf — represented the NFLPA as amicus in Clarett, defending the very exemption that now blocks his client."

Whelp that’s a bummer. I guess all our eggs are in the beck basket.

I’m shocked the nfl denied him, they are clearly using him as an example.

On one end, I'm glad the Sorsby soga is over but on the other hand, I wish it played out so the Cardinals could emphatically pass on drafting him showing Beck they believe he is the guy for the future.

Okay... and at the start of the year the defense was holding their own, but our trash offense couldn't score.
1 the defense was never good just like the oline was never good. We had no run game the entire year as well.

2. The offense always starts slow to start the season in the NFL.

3. Had this team been coached well we would have started 4-0 last season.

Sadly we are the Cards so we can’t have nice things.

so... soresby needs to either hire a personal coach and prepare for next years draft or....

he doesnt have NCAA eligibility,..but the NCAA aint the only game in town... he could play JUCO ball... or go semi pro for a year...then declare for the 2027 draft as he had originally planned.

He would have to show cause that the collective bargaining agreement is being broken. That's why they say they will work with NFLPA...the NFLPA would have to take NFL to court.
except...soresby does not meet the NFLP criteria...
i could see the players union fighting a fight like this at some point. But do they want to fight it for a guy who is not a member of the NFL players union?

Well, there is always the Canadian Football league that might take him.
Their season is already started but with playoffs it runs until November. He might grab a backup spot as teams obviously have starters. Coaching is good and many teams have wide open passing games that would suit his strong arm. If he can get an offer I’d recommend going that way. It’s highly scouted. It’s a route that’s worked for many players.

I can't remember the NFL ever denying a player entry to the supplemental draft. They've let guys in who were ruled ineligible because of drugs (Josh Gordon), NCAA rule-breaking (Terrelle Pryor) and grades (Ahmad Brooks), over and over.

Clearly, the NFL is drawing a line here.
The NFL opened themselves up to a huuuge lawsuit here. Bush league move by the NFL.

The NFL opened themselves up to a huuuge lawsuit here. Bush league move by the NFL.

It was a bush league move by Sorsby and his representation.

I totally agree with the NFL's response:

"Your Petition -- filed three business days before the deadline, without any supporting information or documentation, and only after abandoning your recent litigation efforts to avoid NCAA sanctions -- does not provide a basis for the League to alter those plans. The issues presented by your Petition are too significant, and too closely tied to the League's core integrity interests, to permit meaningful review within the timeline presented."
"The League does not have the complete record of the NCAA's investigation, and you did not provide any such materials with your Petition," the league said in its letter to Sorsby. "Available information nonetheless indicates that, over the course of your collegiate career, you knowingly engaged in repeated and significant violations of NCAA rules designed to preserve the integrity of athletic competition. Reported conduct includes placing wagers on your own team and teammates and, to avoid detection, establishing or funding accounts in the names of intermediaries who placed bets on your behalf. There are also reports that you may have violated state criminal law.
"Your Petition does not address these matters. Nor does it demonstrate accountability for your conduct or indicate whether, or how, you would adhere to the League's rules and policies governing the integrity of competition. Instead, even after receiving notice of the NCAA's decision rescinding your college eligibility in May, you sought to avoid the consequences of that determination through litigation rather than accepting responsibility for your actions, and you pursued entry into the NFL only after abandoning those efforts."
"We encourage you to focus on preparing for possible entry into the NFL through the 2027 NFL Annual Draft"
