Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby to enter NFL Supplemental Draft amid lawsuits originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
A decision has been made on Texas Tech transfer QB Brendan Sorsby following the injunction that granted him eligibility to play next season despite being caught betting on his own team.
Sorsby will officially enter the NFL’s Supplemental Draft. Sorsby officially entered his name into the pool on June 15th. Just a week prior to the June 22nd deadline to enter.
His decision to enter the draft comes on the same day that the Big 12 filed a federal lawsuit against Texas Tech and Ken Paxton, the state's Attorney General. In the suit, the conference is seeking authority to sanction the school if Sorsby played for them this season.

Where Sorsby goes from here + how the supplemental draft works
After calling it a college career, Sorsby finishes with 7,208 passing touchdowns, 1,305 rushing yards, and 22 rushing touchdowns. Before committing to transfer to Texas Tech, Sorsby was ranked as high as the no. 7 QB on Mel Kiper’s 2026 NFL Draft board and potentially a second-round pick.
Sorsby will now need to review and approve his filing to enter the draft. How it works is teams with six or fewer wins will draft first, non-playoff teams with seven or more wins follow, and playoff teams after that.

Teams are not required to make a pick as a pick in any round of the Supplemental Draft would forfeit their pick in the NFL Draft the following year.
