For some reason, Jordan Ott reminds me a bit of Ryan McDonough who drafted Devin Booker.

Of course, their positions are different. Maybe it's because they both spent a lot of time in the film room.

He reminds me more of a young Spoelstra than McD. Nothing against McD but I wouldn't be surprised if he were on the spectrum. He was very socially inept and couldn't deal with players, at all.

Here are the details of Ott's college experience:

A native of McConnellsburg, Pa., Ott holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Penn State University where he worked for three years as a manager for the Nittany Lions men’s basketball team. He then spent two years as a graduate assistant for the men’s basketball team at Michigan State University while earning his master’s degree, before spending five seasons as the video coordinator for the Spartans from 2008-13.

Man there’s just so little info on this guy. I just keep seeing “reputation for ‘offensive and defensive creativity, player development and communication," repeated over and over. Where does he hang his hat? What evidence of something he concocted or created can we look at to determine what we have?

Apparently he was books first choice, but I don’t know if that’s good or bad.

At least he’s not a retread. Would’ve liked for him to have had some signature element about him to look forward to. The Michigan state thing is a valid concern and even if ott ends up good makes ishbia look like a clown.

Here’s hoping it all works out. Won’t bag on the dude until we see what tricks he’s got in his arsenal.
Agreed

I’m looking forward to hearing Ott at his press conference on Tuesday. I didn’t like the Gregory hire and his press conference made me feel worse. I don’t dislike the Ott hire as much as the Gregory hire, and I am hoping that hearing him on Monday will have a positive affect on my feelings about his hire.

Only a guess, but I think Gregory will only serve as a temporary GM to implement Ishbia's new philosophy.

Afterward, I think he will be moved elsewhere in the Suns organization and a new GM hired.

Outside of studying film to start his career, what makes you think he's like Spo?

I didn't say he was a lot like Spoelstra just more Spo than McD. Ryan McDonough was a goober from the start and always seemed like he was familiar with what the inside of a locker looked and felt like.

That would be two great hires imo.

I liked DeMarre Carroll as a player and what I knew of him as a person. Could be a solid assistant. Stephen Silas is Paul's son, right? I know he coached somewhere but I don't recall where.

Please no to Fizdale.

Yes he is Paul’s son. He has been a lead assistant coach at a few places. He was the head coach for Houston for a few years. Most recently he was the head coach for the USA men’s national qualifying team for the FIBA AmeriCup.

I’ve got nothing to really say about Ott, but oh my lord, does Dan Bickley NOT own a mirror?! This is a hideous look:
