The Steelers have made a second re-signing of defense ahead of the opening of the NFL’s legal tampering period, with The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov reporting that Pittsburgh is bringing back linebacker Cole Holcomb on a two-year, $5-million deal.

In 2026, Holcomb came back from a knee injury that made him miss one-and-a-half seasons, appearing in 14 games and starting three. The 29-year-old logged 37 total tackles.

With Holcomb back under contract, the Steelers still have their full 2025 inside linebacker rotation on the team in Patrick Queen, Payton Wilson, Malik Harrison, Holcomb, and Carson Bruener, although more moves could be coming.

Holcomb marks the second player the Steelers have brought back ahead of free agency. The team re-signed cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. to a one-year, $4 million deal earlier in the day.
