If you haven’t see Manning lately, he looks like the QB everyone expected him to be. I don’t think he’ll come out, but if he keeps playing like this he could still go number one. When moving in the pocket or eluding the rush he keeps his eyes downfield. His arm is so strong he can throw deep accurately while on the run. He is also an exceptional runner. He has the most potential of any QB in the draft.

I wanted to copy the talk about Jayden Maiava into this thread, since it is about QB’s. It was @football karma and @GatorAZ who had the talk in another thread.

I got Maiava on the radar some weeks ago, and I think the game against Oregon confirmed that he can be a very high draft pick, even though they lost the game. He has the stature, mobility, arm strength and mental sharpness. Compared to Dante Moore and Ty Simpson it also speaks heavily in Maiava’s favor that he will have at least 30 starts throughout three seasons after this one.

He doesn’t need to enter the draft, but I think he will.

I love this kid, he is by far my favorite QB in this class. But no one thinks he has a chance due to his size. But Brees was 6'0" and did alright.

The kid is a baller. His teammates love him. He is a big time winner at New Mexico St. and freaking VANDERBILT! Vanderbilt! Nobody wins at Vanderbilt!

That said I have absolutely no idea about where he will go in the draft. I think higher than people predict right now.

Nobody here is talking about Marcel Reed so I will give my thoughts since I have seen every. college snap he has taken.

Pros:

1. He is real leader. The brighter the lights, the bigger the stage, he loves it. His teammates 100% believe in him.

2. Has electric type of playmaking ability. Cannon of an arm, can throw it deep with ease. Lightning quick. Fast, can house it like a top RB.

3. Has improved greatly over the course of his college career in his footwork and throwing from the pocket. Shows that he is obviously coachable.

4. Nails in big game, gotta have it situations. The game winning drive to beat Notre Dame. Coming off a TERRIBLE first half against South Carolina to throw over 300 yards and 3 TDs in the second half alone, plus a couple of clutch 4th downs with both legs and arm.

The kid is a gunslinger.

Cons:

1. Not as accurate as you want yet, although he is improving. Tends to miss high which leads to INTs. Also, especially early this season, often overthrows wide open WRs who are 50 yards down field by 5 yards or so. And A&M has FAST WRs.

2. Looks slightly built. You worry about him taking big hits on runs and fumbles. But his is noticably bigger than last year.

To me, I think of Jayden Daniels who really didn't put it all together until his senior. The skill set is almost identical.

That said, I expect him to return to A&M next year rather than enter the draft. But, if he beats Texas and then Georgia, looks great and wins the Heisman? Who knows? A&M has a bottomless pit of money but he might strike while the iron is hot.

How about when he beats up one that’s 11-0? This guy has the best potential of all the college QBs. If he were to come out I think he’d be taken number one despite his early difficulties. I’m not saying if you look at the season as a whole he’s played the best. I’m saying when I project these guys out he’s the one who will eventually take his team the farthest. I’m also not saying he will come out or even should come out. If he chooses to stay in school he could win the Heisman and then still be drafted number one. He’d be even more polished. As things stand I’m not certain he could or should start from day one. However, I’d trade whatever it took to get that first pick even if I had to sit him for a while. He’s somebody’s ticket to the Super Bowl if he gets decent coaching and a reasonable surrounding cast. BTW he still hasn’t played his best game; it’s just the tools are next level.

I was thinking last night wonder if the titans who need a wr would take Wilson if we don’t plan to lock him up plus our first this year and next year? I know that’s expensive but it would be worth it for Moore or mendoza

Good weekend for QBs. Simpson was a little up and down, but overall made it work. Beck had a very solid game; some see him as the Nix-type. I don’t. Manning put on a display showing he’s the best double option QB. Sayin isn’t draft eligible, but he has every QB-needy team salivating. Sorsby & Hoover stayed late day 3 options. Mateer slipped further back evidencing questionable judgment. Moore moved forward, if possible, by emphasizing his ability to run. I pegged Pavia day 3, but he may have moved to round 4. He’s unusually sturdy for a height-challenged, double-option QB. Mendoza crushed a weak team. There are a number of other guys on the fringes that could well be grabbed late day 3 based on some enthusiastic scout.

@Harry - what are your thoughts (and sorry if I missed it) on Iowa/South Dakota State’s Gronowski?
