Arch Manning is officially staying at school for one more year.
As expected. Same with Sellers but a bit shocking he stayed at SC.

Moore losing his QB coach puts him up in the air. Simpson fading a bit over the past few weeks also brings a question if he will return.

Maybe he will start to think about entering the draft due to some of his competition staying in school?

I have always thought he would do at least one more year at Alabama. He really should, for his own good. He isn't ready to play for someone like the Cardinals.

Moore is most likely going to declare. Oregon is a front runner to sign Sam Leavitt, so I think they're anticipating Moore leaving.

I would argue people are saying Oregon is a front runner for Leavitt because they think Moore is leaving. Maybe you have read something I haven't (which is entirely possible). My guess is Moore does not know what he is doing yet.

my guess is, he comes out.

right now the draft is a 1 horse race...Mendoza....

the NFL is always QB starved...but none of the other QB's seem to have enough talent to warrant a top 10 pick...

Moore has the talent...just needs a little more development.

its almost certain he is a top 5 pick if he comes out with only Mendoza as a threat to be QB1 in the draft..... he is thought to be a mature prospect regardless of his lack of games...

might be a better gamble than risking a year on the field followed by going up against 5 or 6 guys who could all be in the top 5 discussion

so...
Lets say Cards pick at 8... Monti doesnt want to trade up but has made it clear he is going QB...

for the sake of argument..Mendoza and Moore go 1-2...
Cards pick comes up...Nuissmeyer and Beck are both on the board...

would you pick one of them? Or trade back assuming you could get the same guy at pick 22?
Beck has done nothing but win big games against big programs...after elbow surgery he transferred to Miami and still posted a winning season...and he has 39 college starts

Neuismeyer had a poor year....but the talent is clearly there....

I need to watch some more Moore film to see what the hype is about, because the advanced stats side/sample size of Moore is bad bad. Maybe he goes on an impressive playoff run, but right now his statistical profile looks fits in with guys like Kyle McCord or Will Howard rather than a top 5 pick.

Sorsby and Maiava are already out as draft picks this year. Maiava is going back to USC and Sorsby is in the transfer portal. It's thought he will go back to Indiana.

Moore, Simpson, Mensah are all undecided about entering the draft. Moore is probably the most likely to enter the draft. Chambliss has applied for an extra year of eligibility. If he gets it, he won't enter the draft. He's already said another year playing college will help him for the NFL. He has only one year of starts like Simpson does.

So, out of those 10, the only ones for sure in the draft are:

Mendoza
Mateer
Beck
Nussmeier

What an uninspiring list.

All three behind Mendoza will be a big time reach in the top 10. IMO. If that's the situation, move up for Mendoza at all costs or put off a QB until later in the draft or even next year. Hope you catch lightning in a bottle with a later round pick. That's how I would see it.

damn so it's gonna be awhile and they'll know where the cards are drafting by then lol - simpson might decide to stay in school when we get pick #5
I would be shocked if we took Simpson that high now….if we are not gonna trade up for Mendoza…take the o lineman and then try and trade up in the bottom of the first for Simpson or Mensah…..if that opportunity fails ….go o lineman again and wait till next year …

Harry:

take on Duke's Mensah?

obvs -- highlight vids make nearly everyone look good -- but i saw lots of really good throws, and a quick, compact throwing motion

I am pretty sure Mateer is going back.

That guy is worth keeping an eye on. Probably not in the first round, but could be an option in the second if they don’t get one with their first pick. He’s very talented.

A good alternate plan.
