Got his first start in week six of his rookie season when the Browns were 1-5. Jake Delhomme was their opening-day starter.

brissett is beloved in the lockeroom - receiving unit knows how he sacrifices his body in the pocket and what that does for their pockets - brissett is always texting with his receivers about both football and as friends- building solid relationships on top of the trust he's gained on the field - he never lost the team even after going 1-11

Read an article on how great Beck was doing with cadence. It talked about how he was far more ready than other rookie QBs. All this is true. My concern is none of this is connected to why Beck was not my choice. IMO it’s all about poise. Yes arm strength is a concern, but in the end can he perform under pressure? There won’t be an answer to my question until Beck plays in a meaningful game and is pressed. Poise can be acquired, but it’s not common. Admittedly I’m not optimistic. I do, however, accept I could be wrong. I do believe those who have overcome this concern have done so gradually. The Cards have a vastly changed Oline. It will take time for them to play well as a unit. It’s not sure thing they become functional. The Cards should see how they progress before pushing Beck to start. Let him play a down here and there. If the line settles in maybe chance him in late season games to see what the Cards actually have. In this case patience really is a virture.

I disagree that they were a playoff caliber team. They should have won more games, but they came out of the gates and looked pretty lousy while healthy, we won 2 games against two awful teams, scraping by, lost to the Niners when they already were a MASH unit, then had maybe the ugliest loss I've ever seen against the Titans.

We absolutely should have lost the Saints AND Panthers games.

I posted this conspiracy somewhere.
I believe Beck will be placed on IR with an “ injury”. He won’t return until week 6. If things go south as most predict, he will come back and sit for 2 weeks allowing him to take reps with the starters. He could start week 9.

This allows the o-line to develop some continuity as well as the offense to settle in. It means we wouldn’t carry 3qb’s on game day roster.
It also allows us to deal Brissett or Minshew.

Throwing Beck out there week 1 will destroy the locker room and the veteran’s belief in the commitment to winning.
