yes. and that's the point. When we hear about it, damage is done. The NBA is in the public pleasing business. Their product is giving the community players to root for. If you damage the reputation of a team and the league you are damaging the product you're being payed a king's ransom to maintain.
if you can't sustain a public persona, get another job and rehabilitate there. If you prove yourself, you might be given a second chance. I have no sympathy for those who can't. And throwing billiard balls at a car with your girlfriend and children in it months after confessing to beating the crap out of her, should have disqualified him from representing Charlotte or Phoenix, especially if an owner pitches "team culture" to the community.
personally, i don't think Booker earned his current salary on the court. But off the court, he has certainly met his obligations and fulfilled expectations.
you don't have to "be a role model" as Barkley used to say. But all jobs have minimum expectations.
