56% failure rate on all models combined. So the original models are probably closer to 80% failure rate.

The newer Jasper motherboard models only have a 5% failure rate in the 15 months or so they've been on the market. So if you buy one with a manufacture date in 2009, chances are good you'll have a solid Xbox for a few years.

Had it happen 3 times, this last time was about a week ago and was 2 days before the warranty went out on it at Wal-Mart. So I was able to just take it back and get a new one, was awesome. I have had had horrible luck with it crapping out right after the warranty ended on the first two. But ya, they are lucky its such a great product when it works. Its the only thing I actually do purchase the extended warranty for....how can 56% failure rate be acceptable for anything.
