This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with retired All-Pro running back Ricky Williams.
In his interview with Easton Jr., Williams discussed his partnership with Panini America after being hosted along with several other NFL players and legends at the Panini Prizm VIP lounge in San Francisco during Super Bowl LX week. He also responded to recent criticisms of Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid's game plan following the Chiefs' struggles in the 2025 season.
"I've been with them (Panini America) for a long time, and so it's an amazing relationship," said Williams, "As a retired athlete, I start to forget. Feel like people forget you, but every time I show up at a Panini event, it feels like everybody remembers."
The 6-11 finish for the 2025 Chiefs fell well short of expectations, and the front office will make changes during the offseason. Williams believes a future Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach, Reid, can steady the ship and make the adjustments needed before next season.
"I think always that's the NFL, you get over reactions. The reality is, we don't know if it was just one year." said Williams, "Still, I think he's (Andy Reid) earned the right for people to give him the benefit of the doubt and wait to see what happens, because in the NFL, they have so much film they can figure out what you're doing, that's forcing Andy Reid to have to keep evolving."
Reid is the winningest coach in Chiefs history, a three-time Super Bowl winner, and is entering his 28th season in 2026. The Chiefs have qualified for the playoffs eleven times in thirteen seasons.
"So we'll see next year, because I was in the NFL long enough to know that after a season like this, coaches who really got it are the ones who work even harder in the off-season to take their game to the next level, so this doesn't happen again." said Williams, "I think it's too early to tell with Andy Reid, but, we'll know probably about midseason next year."
